I remember arsenal being linked with remy and a few other clubs a good few years back and all of them lost intrest for whatever reason. I think this way before he joined marseille. Maybe we have dodged a bullet, doubt mike would want to offer and unproven 26 year old a lengthy contract on huge wages when he is unproven anyway

PS I think it's time the club just forgot about number 1 and even 2 targets and just go for 3 because time is running the **** out. In fact not just this window all windows1

Just turn the list upside down and you have a new top target - I mean at the end of the day they are all good enough to be on the list in the first place.

Yes, forget purple, Just aim straight for the putrid green and mustard yellow players we can afford.

Thats the green list but you could still turn the purple list upside down and save loads of time.

And I can't believe a club as big as ours loses in offering wages to a team with a capacity of 18k and the bottom of the league. Whether he is worth the wages is a different matter, I'm criticizing the rigid wage structure here. I'd rather see us pay 70 80k wages for somebody who is worth the money than see us buy players fitting the bill or not at all. At this rate we'll be seeing willo until the end of the season

Then the rest of the squad will want more and before you know it there's disharmony and dissent amongst the ranks... oh and we run the risk of going pop.

Clubs either pay those wages cos they have he revenue streams to fund them (like Man U) or they have a rich sugar daddy (like Chelsea) or they overstretch themselves to the point of going pop (like Portsmouth and Leeds).

We fall into none of these categories so we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

If we pay one individual £80k+ a week then, working within a budget we can only pay two others, say £25k... weakening the whole team and putting all the risk in one player.

The way we have it saet up is perfect for me as we bring a player in and in they perform they get a wage rise.

That's where I dun get it. I understand not wanting the club mismanaged and wanting us to be self sufficient. But sometimes to take the extra step forward we have to get quality in. This way of management shouldn't be for a football club. Put it simply, it's not easy to find quality players who would take salaries with a cap of 50k. If we want to improve the squad there are bound to be holes in the team where quality would really show. For example our starting lineup would do well to have a starting calibre left winger and not Jonas . If we would abandon the cap and keep such notions in house, even if they had such a cap they could still discuss if they could make an exception for a quality player. But no, stating it outright would cause a lot of repercussions with both the media and the players if it were to happen.

It will cause their hands to be tied because of the self imposed cap. Lets say sneijder really were available. We could get him if we paid over the cap. But now if they wanted to do that eventually the players hba cabaye are going to make noise over their wages. And it gets worse if he doesn't perform and can't settle. Instead of being quiet there would be heavy criticism over the signing and making that exception.

I just think the current football world money plays a big enough part , whether we fans like it or not. We fill our home games every year at attendances many clubs dun even dream of. Add to that the Mandy fees, the Nolan's bests, and add tv money prize money. And all we signed was cisse, Anita and some developing youngsters. There have been gaping holes in the team at cb and rb and striker left unaddressed for as long as we can remember. All for the sake of running a tight ship. Of course money shouldn't be splurged needlessly like a Torres or Mandy. But if an Alan shearer deal were available , would we even be in the discussion for it?

It's easy to understand when you accept our owner is a cheap shop owner. The aim is simply to buy cheap and sell for profit not to succeed on the pitch.

Don't get me wrong I am over the moon with the signings
Gouffan is one for the future and IMO a replacement for Leon best
I can't see fat mike selling any of the top players as I still think we are in **** street
And I am still worried about our sAfety due to the fixtures we have left and the ones we have failed to get winnable points on the board Swansea, reading, west ham,Southampton away etc

We're not done yet? According to #Mercato365, #NUFC has launched a €10.5M bid for St. Etienne's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Bis also being reported by beIN Sport apparently...
