Kev, what a quality horse Royal Palace was! Ironic that Scobie Breasley turned down the Murless job to ride for Gordon Richards who never had a Classic winner. Scobie's worst decision of his life, I should think. Nonetheless, Scobie rode a lot of winners and the 1963 season was something special when his 176 winners pipped Lester's 175- deciding the jockey's championship on the very last day of the season. What tremendous jockeys they both were!
