I reckon Nicola has a pad like that, but the message reads "Use both sides".

That pretty much just sums up Nigel & his backroom staff! Will always be a Southampton legend!

I hope they haven't removed it at the command of the club, that would be so ungracious and disrespectful to Nigel

If we get relegated after all this it will be all on cortese's shoulders. This gamble better pay off.

Class if Lambo has it transcribed on his t-shirt on Monday when he scores the opener. Not even the note, but just the face.

You mean *doesn't* buck the trend?

Agree that while someone hasn't made a bad decision - and is responsible for your solvency - we can only trust him. A lot of posters on here sign off with 'In NC we trust' - that should really cover even this eventuality. Otherwise it is worth nothing more than empty badge-kissing.

It would be really nice if the players did some kind of tribute. All of them could have a different one of his 'Adkinisms' on their t-shirts...

NC believes that Poch will not only keep us up but make us a top 6 PL side in due course. That's why Nigel has gone. It's just the next stage of the business plan.

Yes but its all relative isn't it? ie A sad but fictional film can make people more upset (at the time) than hearing about a tragic but distant event. Thats not saying the former is taken more seriously. The sinking of the titanic can obviously not be compared to one man losing his job (with a good severence package prob), however the fans feel they had a relationship with adkins which we haven't had with other managers. People feel they know him on a personal level and feel as though is the end of an era. The Titanic sank in 1912 and although it is obviously a real tragedy (as oppose to one man losing his job), it will not necessarily evoke the same feelings as a minor tragedy which is in the here and now. And at our football club.

I hope this helps to clear things up!

This reminds me of the Hunger Games by being forced to remove that picture. Don't expect to ever see Steve Corns again.

Or just sneak them into interviews. Has anyone ever played the word game at work when you are given a 'dare word' at work and then have to try and naturally slip it naturally into your next conversation with a customer. Could be like that!

As Abramovich said to Mourhino (probably) "thanks son you've done a good job but I can't see you getting any better, it's time we move on to a manager that will take us forward" so NC may have said to Nigel.

More likely he just offered an awkward handshake as asked Nigel to return any saints property before leaving in typical detached style. Also, is that a drawing of Les Reed Nigel has done at the bottom of his message? Perhaps it's a secret message!

TBH joking doesn't really ease this sad period, but I am absolutly certain that NA will move on to other great things. What amazes me is Nigel demonstrated he was improving - first match with Gooners, dire, second took a point; similar situation with Chelsea. Can only now imagine if we would have turned Everton and Manchester clubs around too!

Why is that evidence that Adkins was improving? The players are the ones who play the game.

With the limited number of PL games Nigel has managed the evidence is going to be light, but I suggest the evidence such as it is would be the big increase in points won over the last 10 games compared to the first 10 and the results against Asenal and Chelsea the second time we played them.

I know each match result depends on a lot of things so doesn't beyond question say we're improving, but based on the info we have we're not getting worse are we?

This is must my light hearted view on how strange it seems to sack NA at this time, it sure doesn't mean I think we're now doomed. We have anew manager in place now and I wish him success. That goes without saying.

I see you put the emphasis on Adkins. I think it's not unreasonable to put the improvement down to the manager as well as and any individual or team improvement.

Also, I remember hearing one of the players talk about how the manager has kept them all positive in a recent post match interview, sorry cant remember which one. Keeping positive for me has been massively important in us not folding after our early losses, so Adkins get credit from me for that.

    Just my opinion
