WBA & Swansea should both have known better, I fully expect both to help their clubs move closer to the fight for relegation.

Lazy, greedy and average the pair.

But as statement of intent, the club should at least disclose the fee's.

Not told what we paid
Never explained why they weren't very good
Leave not knowing what they cost us.

It would seem if you can't run a football club you just stop telling the fans anything!!

I'm just a little bored with all the Off Topics atm, I thought trying to provoke debate on a forum was a good idea. What a plum I am Mike. Wait there while I'll have another go at burying my head in the sand. Hang on, no, no its not for me, but good luck if it's your thing.

There's a reason clubs do this and it's not because it's a cracking little deal for us. Out of us, WBA, Swansea, Matt Phillips and Leroy Fer who did you think did best out the deals?

Negotiating a good deal and letting the supporters know that management are not incompetent, Is a resonably strong argument for a little extra disclosure given recent history. Confidence in Board and management is shot and it feels like we are starting off just as we finished. More cover ups.

2 of our expensive underperforming players, one of which spent last season on loan. I take the point, but I think it says more about their commitment to the cause.

I am all in favour of debate it just seems that the management appear to be trying to undo some wrongs and whether we get 3-4-5 million did we get told how much fer cost when we signed him from Norwich - I think it was undisclosed too - I think it is time to give the management a bit of a chance again we criticise when we spend and now we criticise when they aren't spending - if of course we sign pratley then I might agree with you........

Pratley fell through, In for Jordan Cousins (Charlton) they want 3m it says in the press, I wonder if we got that for the two who have just left.

Wasn't it £4.5m for Fer and £5.5m for Phillips? That's what I read on t'internet when moves were announced by their new clubs.........

From these sources - if correct, a nice haul of £10 million for the pair of them:-

West Brom have today completed the £5.5m signing of QPR winger, Matt Phillips, according to BBC Sport. The midfielder joins the Baggies on a four-year-deal.

Phillips, 25, had previously spent three years at the London club where he clocked up 94 appearances and bagged 14 goals in that time.

The Scotland winger is West Brom’s first summer signing as Baggies boss, Tony Pulis looks to strengthen is side over the transfer window.
A player with wicked pace and a rocket of a shot on him, Phillips will be a powerful asset to his new side next season. The 25-year-old will be eager to prove his worth over the coming pre-season to state his claim for a position in the West Brom first team.

A consistent performer and Championship level, will Phillips be able to make an immediate impact to the Premier League?

Leroy Fer: Midfielder played in top flight with QPR & Norwich
Swansea have confirmed the signing of Leroy Fer from QPR for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £4.75million.

The Holland international midfielder has signed a three-year contract after impressing manager Francesco Guidolin while on loan last season.
He then made 11 appearances for the club, who are his third in English football.
“I’m very happy, from the first minute I felt at home,” he told the club’s official website. “We did very good in the second half of the season.

“If we play like that, we can aim for higher, and that’s what we want. Hopefully some new strong players (will) come in to help us.
“It makes it easier for me as well, if a coach wants you. (Guidolin) was surprised (at my ability), he said.”
The 26-year-old Fer first joined Norwich in 2013. QPR signed him the following year after Norwich were relegated, but QPR also went down, before last season’s loan move to Swansea.
He scored eight times in 50 appearances for QPR, and has represented Holland 11 times.

Decent enough fees but losing the wages is the key. I think this might turn some of JFH's plans into reality - he'll now have a better transfer kitty and be able to offer suitable terms.

Neither Fer nor Phillips was anywhere near consistent enough but I enjoyed watching them when they were on form and they scored some belters.

I think they'll probably do better elsewhere as is usually the case with us.

I treated both of these sales as good news. We can hopefully get some players in who give a damn. Seems to be 10m in and significant wages off the books. As long as we bring replacement in what's not to like?

We are better off not letting other clubs know how much we got for a transfer.

When we go to sign someone the price will simply go up as they know we have the readies.
