You can look at it many, many ways, without knowing the reality behind the actual facts.

A CEO can be forced out because of job requirements, and other senior appointments (Sir Les) that then make the job less appealing, or Beard too expensive for the job needed.

    All conjecture and speculation.

Beard's only mistake was to come from businesses which had some semblance of sanity about them and be thrown into the chaos that is football with only the shysters known as 'football people' to advise him. Fernandes and the other shareholders carry the can for all management decisions, they signed off the contracts and appointed Hughes, Rigg, Redknapp, Jordan, Hoddle, Beard etc etc. If Fernandes hasn't learnt by now he never will. Bhatia, the director representing the single biggest shareholder, has been around for ages and clearly can't learn, but then again it's only a hobby for him.

If Les comes out of this with yet more influence I'll be seriously worried.

The only thing about this that I find strange relates to the timing what with the Training Ground, Stadium Plans beginning to need some form of leadership, I thought that was Beards USP having been involved with the O2 and the Olympic Park. Maybe TF has someone else lined up to head up these plans or the designers have their own person in place and PB was simply surplus to requirements.....

I wonder if he finished as he started, fired with enthusiasm.

I think it's time TF stopped thinking we are the next big thing. Time to go back to our roots ,grow slowly and carefully so our roots are deeper and stonger so that we stay in the EPL for a very long time. So to answer your question YES I think its a good thing

Mark Donnelly was brought in a year or so ago to run the stadium project. With Les Ferdinand being brought in as a Director of Football, I suspect Beard's responsibilities were diminishing, so he has probably had enough.

I won't miss him. Responsible substantially for the financial terms of the disastrous signings over the last three years. In truth probably knew even less about football than dear Tone. Yet another expensive flop brought in on basis of reputation.

I've been a critic of Tony these days but what you describe above is what I think Tony has woken up to recently.

Seems to be pattern emerging, where the 'names' amongst the backroom staff are edged out and replaced on the cheap. Likewise the playing staff are told there will be no new signings. My worry is that Tony is off, though god knows who would buy us if we are relegated
