I don't see where he could fit in, unless they wanted him on the coaching side, and would use him next season as a bench warmer, along with the coaching side.

If he were a couple of years younger, yes, I would get him.

At 36, it seems too late.

I thought we had got away from signing Geriatrics and sick notes.

You cut your cloth accordingly. It would be great to sign a bundle of players aged 21-26, but if they're any good then they'll cost a fortune and other clubs will also want them.

In the bargain basement (by Premier standards) that City would be shopping in, then you have to occasionally take a punt on 'lesser' players or young unproven projects, as well as taking on one or two older players who have been there and done that. The Premier League is a squad business these days and I think he'd be worth a go - many players are much fitter at 36 now than 36-year-olds were 15 or 20 years ago.

He lives not a million miles from Bolton and his children go to a well known school in the area. Might think we are a better bet than going down to London or Stoke (if we go up). Personally, I think he could be the sort of leader we would need on the pitch and I think he has a couple of years left in him if he played defensive midfield in front of the back four.

If we go up we will be linked with god knows how many players - as long as we avoid the farces we had last time in the PL, when we were apparently signing Owen etc - which made us a laughing stock with other clubs.
If we do sign him I think it would be mainly to get him for the coaching staff and his PL experience with which he could assist our younger players - whether he would demand a huge salary I'm not sure about, if we were giving him the stepping stone to the next level of his career (and thinking long term maybe he could be next manager if Bruce is tempted by Manchester United or England).

Almost certainly he would, but he will be on a 'free' which would allow the big bucks salary.
Presume your last sentence was tongue in cheek otherwise as said above, Apollo awaits

For one season and not on stupid wages Phil Neville would be ideal for us. We shall need some experience at PL level and i would also go in for Bolton striker Kevin Davies who is also on a FAT this summer. Both have what we lack. Excellent PL experience.

No surprise to me that we are being linked at all.

Phil Neville for a team looking to stay in the Premier League?

    I should think not.

He's a great pro and all that, but we don't really need to be signing 30 odd year olds in order to looking to establish ourselves as a Premier League Club.

we could do with some Man U youth team, the ilk of Brady and Dudge, even (dare I say it?) Evans.
