musky no offence but you dont see the players in real life....Monk is a good professional and has more than held his own when called upon despite his age.....His captain's input is second to none on and off the playing field...
I have to agree with Dai re Monk. His leadership skills are outstanding on and off the pitch, and I am glad he signed an extension as it will probably lead to a more of a coaching role and a plying role if needed. If ever there was a player that should be offered a coaching role with the youngsters its Monk as that guy is Swansea through and through. However, we do need a few leaders next season, as we seem to panic when under pressure a la the Norwich game at the weekend where we were in complete control and as soon as they scored, Ash and the CM began to panic under the pressure. This is where I think the invaluable experience of a player like Neville on a player coach deal would be great for us, as he could pass on his experience and mental toughness to the current players we have.
Whether leadership can be taught (forget about Sandhurst and the like ) but on the football pitch I think it's something you've either got or you haven't .The desire to win regardless on who you trample on the way takes something that you're born with.Ash does play & lead by example but I don't believe thats enough, Dorus was one of the loudest on the park but even in the quiet periods it's rare to hear any guidance from the current captain.
Dai, why would i need to see them in real life, i watch him on TV and he is past it, great ambassador for the club, get his coaching badges and assist the youth, i have never proposed throwing him out of the club
