It does seem to be gathering pace. Whether this is soley newspaper generated though is still uncertain. I do think he would be the perfect signing to complete the squad for the start of the season.
I died a little inside when I read 'the mirror' but I think there's a good chance we land this crazy Dutch fella
Lets hope so this would be amazing, no one can replace Paul but Sneijder would go some way in helping us covering this area. Will just go to show all the Manchester United "HATERS" out there, that when our great club come's calling we can still get the best players and its not about the money like with Chelsea, City and Real. Its our great Manager and club history that they want to be part off! Now I know a few "Haters" / non-MUFC fans will jump all over this, and say yeah but your paying nearly £38m (That's out of our control) and his weekly wages are likely to be around £200k a week, but I don't believe that is the real reason why he wants to come to OT, its to work under SAF and to become apart of our great ever growing history. We can all remember when City wanted Kaka, and where ready to offer him a £500k a week ha,ha lol !!!
It does look like the Sneijder deal will happen and failrly soon too now but nothing is confirmed yet. A paper story saying personal terms have been agreed is still not a done deal and deals have fallen through at the last hurdle before. Hopefully it'll be done within a week, Sneijder will still need to take his medical once the fee's have been agreed etc, possibly before the start of next week but we'll have to see.
There is no substance to such rumours. Until these rumours pop up in sky sports, telegraph and the Guardian. They are not true.
First of all, what is with the text language? This is a forum, not a text message. Secondly, there are many wildly differing stories in the media about Sneijder. Some say he does not want to leave Inter, others say Inter do not want to sell, others say Inter would be willing to sell and others say that United are put off by his wage demands. Those are just a few examples but the point is that none of the media sources are in any way reliable and are not to be believed. I for one will only believe that we are signing Sneijder if/when he actually signes on the dotted line. Also, 35 million is not too much for a 27 year old because he is a quality player who could play on until he is well into his 30s because of the way he plays.
The problem with Kaka was that he was going into a Real Madrid squad with an abundance of attacking players. At United I believe Sneijder would get into the team and flourish because he is technically gifted and a very intelligent player much like Scholes was. The other side of signing a 27 year old over a younger player is that it would assist the development of players like Morrison, Pogba etc rather than hinder them. I believe a midfielder like Sneijder's best years are from 27 to 32 as he doesn't rely on pace in the way he plays.
Am I the only one that doesn't rate Sneidjer that highly? Obviously as I'm a Liverpool fan I'll be called a WUM that's jealous etc but seriously I don't think he's deserving of being your second highest paid player. I feel Mourinho made him look better than he actually was. Thoughts?
He is far better than Downing @£20m and he is proven quality in Spain, Italy and Clog land, so yes he does deserve to be payed so well.
Holland were never at their fluid best in that tournament, they just ground out results. All Sneijder contributed was a mixture of deflected goals and decent goals. One goal was a six yard header, one was a mishit cross, one was a deflected shot, one was an open goal and one was a hit and hope goal which swerved and the keeper misread it. I don't remember him dominating any games a la Xavi. He had one decent season in Spain, then tailed off the next season with an injury and got shipped out to Italy, in Italy he had one great season under Mourinho then next season he was poor under Benitez and not much better under Leonardo. I just don't think he's world class like most make him out to be, he's in that tier under with Nasri, Van der Vaart, Forlan et al who are decent players, don't get me wrong, but not world class.
All he contributed? So he managed to get into the team of the tournament, was voted 2nd best player of the tournament and if I remember correctly was joint top scorer, and all this with just a few deflected goals? He wasn't at his best in the final, but in the rest of the tournament he was simply world class.
Seem to recall he did very well in Euro 2008. A big part of why that tournament (nothing to do with no England of course(!)) was probably the best in my living memory. One tournament doesn't make you a bad player (Messi) or a good one (Milan Baros). Sneijder will undoubtly improve the squad and the team as well but in my mind, we can improve our team alot more more by buying a more traditional central midfielder. Schwienstieger would be perfect, been moulded from a wide man into a brilliant central midfielder, a bit more attacking than Fletcher but has all the right defensive qualities, quite big and powerful as well. Javi Martinez is another player that should relish the Premier League. Not your archetypal Spanish midfielder, I think he is well over 6ft tall so a big lad.
He's supposed to be a playmaker, and he didn't dominate a single game. The only game I've ever seen him dominate is at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. And Sneidjer was voted into the team of the tournament purely based on his goals. Ozil was more influential than him throughout the tournament.
And goal.com are reporting this http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...er-united-and-inter-agree-352m-fee-for-wesley See what I mean about the sources? Totally unreliable
goal.com mail and mirror are making up trash stories. None of the reliable sources are reporting we will sign him. NONE. They are even disregarding what Ferguson says and that is totally disrespectful to be honest. In my opinion. What Ferguson says, stands. People may speculate about what he has said in the past i.e " I won't sell real a virus" etc but this time round he is being serious. Just look at the wages + fee and look at how many starts he has made in the last few years. The last three years in reverse order it has been 22, 24, 18. Add this to the package which including fee, wages and agents fees could easily top £100m then I feel it's too far a gamble. It is a deal which can't and won't happen.
