He only has a contract until the end of his 9th season. Who says he was going to be given another year?

Nobody, But he can stay until the end of this season and hope for an extention or find another club. I never said anything about him staying as long as he wants, None of them have that option unless Duffen was a bigger fool than we thought.

StrovolosTiger and Dean24 you are supposed to be supporting the same team.
Just because there are differences of opinion why not accept it. What is the point of falling out over minor comments

This arseholes first ever reply to me was to say it was a "stupid post" and that I am "deluded" I can accept differing opinions to mine all day long but if some knob jockey wants to start dishing out abuse he's gonna get some back.
He started it therefore if he would be big enough to appologise we can perhaps start again, I'm not that difficult to get along with.

Listen ballbag you don't really know **** all about what Ashbee really wants only he does, So get ****ed.

I can't work out whether you are pretending to be dense or that you really are. Did you listen to Nigel Pearson's post-match interview on Bluderside yesterday? If not then you really shouldn't be telling people that they don't know what this is all about.

Equally he could stay here, get injured again, and have nothing for next season which will end his contract. If he gets the contract signed now when it gets to this time next year and he's trying to make another comeback he's got a club to train with and a good chance of being able to get a contract for the following year.

agree with dean here, brownie obviously still had the dressing room and pearson has said that contracts werent being discussed yet, if he wanted a new one he had to work for it, hes copped out and gone for the easy option at preston, my opinion of him has gone downhill.

I still dont know how anyone can claim that Brown still had the dressing room after the many criticisms from former players. He had the dressing room for certain players who he would pretty much allow to do what they liked on and off the pitch. He left others that had been given massive contracts to rot in the reserves or his naughty step for months if they dared to disagree. It was never a meritocracy, just an inner circle of followers.

I've read some quotes about players criticising Phil Brown that turned out to be heavily edited and the full versions said something very different.
I've seen George's comments which look stupid when you see how long he and others stayed and I've seen plenty to say the players respected Phil Brown.

So what are these "many" criticisms you talk of?

fair point, unsure of how big his inner circle was, whoever had been on the naughty step hated him but the rest loved him, odd situation to be in, he gave great confidence to some players and not to others.

Not gonna get into an argument about it because you might have a different interpretation of events but are you saying that pretty definate comments made by such as Boateng, Folan and Deano were taken out of context or just bad paraphrasing? I was personally told something first hand just after christmas 2008 about a divided dressing room but didnt believe it at the time however proceeding events have persuaded me otherwise.

I'm not saying Brown was a bad manager because he saved an average team from relegation, took them to promotion and for 6 months attacked the premier league and created a global fanbase for Hull City which was an absolutley impossible dream when I first started watching them. But his narcissistic managerial style after this point caused divisions which weakened the unity of the team and fractured our biggest strength.

I didn't realise that in order to have an opinion on here you have to listen to radio humberside first, Anyway I don't give a monkey's **** what NP says, All I'm saying is Maybe Brown hadn't actually lost the dressing room because the first player he taps up says YES.

ps. **** off

i know a lot of city fans like pearsons no nonsense style, well i can imagine it rubbing a lot of people up the wrong way..he often sounds like a cock on the radio, when asked perfectly sensible questions, tries to be clever in the answers...i can imagine him acting like a strict school teacher on the training ground..like the guy from kes...and id probably go with brown if he went for me too...

There's always the possibility that theres another reason Ash is leaving, that's not to do with money, or Phil Brown, or anything football related. Maybe he did something stupid in a club. The move could be a face saving exercise. Him and Jimmy. Maybe.

Ashbee going means very little to the progress of our club. Would he have been given another contract? I'm not so sure, he's alreadu had one year off on full pay and it could easily happen again. Ashbee's choice of best mate (JB) makes me ambivalent about him going: If you sleep with dogs you wake up with fleas. Let Brownie have Ashbee at Preston, not a problem. £20,000 off the wage bill.

more fighting please! dean24, strov says your hair is mincey. strov, dean24 says your a greek resturant owner.

"are you saying that pretty definate comments made by such as Boateng, Folan and Deano were taken out of context or just bad paraphrasing"

I thought everyone had seen the full text of all of those and accepted exactly that and concluded they were just idle press nonsense, with the exception of George whose comments should be viewed with their timing and dismissed accordingly.
