Well it's obvious really - it's the 'H', it's annoying. Is it just the H that is silent? If so why? In most English language, a G+H together gives a different sound (like the 'F' sound in rough, tough, laugh, cough, etc.). Or sometimes almost a 'R' sound (as in thought & caught). Or it has almost a 'W' sound (like in through or bough). So should Baghdad actually be pronounced as Bafdad, or Bardad, or Bawdad? 'Bagdad' is clearly a total mispronunciation. And THAT is why people have a problem with Baghdad.
You would hope so and I think the city of Newcastle would, BUT, at the end of the day these guys have more money than god and can make life dreamy or a nightmare. I don't think they'll worry about a few thousand fans 10,000 miles away being upset they are playing with their toy how they want though. If PIF start a intercontinental or alternate competition we are first name on the list to sign up alongside their Saudi clubs, then any of the vultures out there looking for easy guarantied money...
If Newcastle fans stormed the stadium and ceased business just as other clubs fanbases have done before us, they would react. That is it really. Fans can make excuses to not do that, but you can do it. Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool have all done it in the past few years.
Agree. Any form form of exclusive/breakaway super league would just kill the game, regardless of which teams participate. I don't care how rich our owners are, if we were to form some kind of breakaway then I'd be done with football.
