I don't think personalitis on the council come into this latest snub by Allam. It is a tradition in this country that the Lord Mayor of cities in the final are invited to Wembley to represent the city. I think whatever the arguments she should have been invited.
The point being that as the mayor she should just be allowed to have her snout in the 'free stuff' nosebag just because she is mayor you mean?
The point being, that a club in the FA Cup final invites their mayor to represent their city and we didn't invite ours just because of our owner sulking(over something that was absolutely nothing to do with the mayor).
You know I think Allam could committ murder and you would still defend him. I think it is just an automatic reaction from you. Do you not think it could be possible for you to be normal and like some of the things he does but dislike others instead of treating him like some kind of god.
How do you know she thought of it as a perk? She might hate football, and many other events and functions she goes to. The point being raised is that she represents the Hull public, whether we like her or not, and her office would expect to be invited to high profile events that showcase the city.
Can you point me to the rule saying this 'free stuff' has to happen? Expected 'hand out's' to politicians does my head in.
Agreed. We donât need any official dignitaries there at all, so letâs start by barring the freeloading royals from attending all such events.
She's not a politician, she's the mayor. It seems the highlight of Assem's day was meeting Prince William, if you'd had your way, the freeloader wouldn't even have been there.
No, you divvy bastard, she's the mayor, it's a ceremonial role, she just represents the city at civic receptions and events. Jesus wept, it's like talking to a house brick.
So what you're saying is that West Park, Walton Street and Anlaby Road won't have any money spent on it for the City of Culture unless Allam chips in?
She represents the public by refusing them their democratically elected voice. AA made the right call.
There's already some money being spent in the area, particularly on the housing developments behind Anlaby Road, but they are in partnership with a house builder and it will take a similar partnership before we see a major redevelopment of the West Park/Walton Street area.
