I'm not being silly. Alot of it comes down to personal preference. Lehmann was commanding and charismatic - I think he led from the back which is an under appreciated aspect of goalkeeping. It just goes to show how much stock people put into the BBC/Sun/Skysports opinions on these things.

Q: Ok who was widley considered the best keeper in the World 2001-2003?.. A: Oliver Khan

Khan lost his place to Lehmann in the German National side. Lehmann seems to be remebered for some of his crazier moments and a few errors he made late in his career.. Similar to David Seaman.

On a side note I'm a huge Buffon fan. Think he was the best keeper in the World for a long period. FIFA would tell you that Casillas has been the greatest keeper of the last decade though.

I personally think Casillas was always overrated to be honest.
He was a good keeper, but in terms of reflexes, aerial ability etc, he was not as good as the keepers I listed above.
De Gea seems almost super human, he is the best keeper I have ever seen, for me.

You do realise Jens didn't become the starting german number 1 until 2006, when kahn was 37 and already on a downwood slope.

That's not really true. Jens made his debut for Germany in 1998 and went on to have 68 caps.
It wasnt until 2006 that he was declared Germanys No.1 head of Khan but the rivalry went on for many years before then.

    Khan was an incredible keeper.

but all those appearances between 98 -> 05 (around 30 odd) were all in friendlies so they weren't rivals per se, he never took the number 1 spot at all.

It's like saying Pepe Reina was a rival to casillas because he got 30 odd international caps too

Guy is still a very good keeper, if he played infront of a solid defence and midfield, we would appreciate him a lot more, but he is just another player who comes into a Wenger team and looks worse than he actually is.
