I'm not being silly. Alot of it comes down to personal preference. Lehmann was commanding and charismatic - I think he led from the back which is an under appreciated aspect of goalkeeping. It just goes to show how much stock people put into the BBC/Sun/Skysports opinions on these things.Come on, lets not get silly now.
Jens Lehmann was a decent keeper, Cech, at his peak, might have been the best keeper in the world (or at least second to Buffon).
The only keepers in the PL era you could could argue were better than Peak ability Cech were Schmeichel, Neuer, Buffon and De Gea, for me.
Q: Ok who was widley considered the best keeper in the World 2001-2003?.. A: Oliver Khan
Khan lost his place to Lehmann in the German National side. Lehmann seems to be remebered for some of his crazier moments and a few errors he made late in his career.. Similar to David Seaman.
On a side note I'm a huge Buffon fan. Think he was the best keeper in the World for a long period. FIFA would tell you that Casillas has been the greatest keeper of the last decade though.
