Farke is a good manager and as such I've no doubt he will have pointed out to Cresswell exactly where he needs to improve,. The question really is whether Charlie's been making sufficent progress on the training ground in the last 4 months or so, and if not why not ? We've been here before with Bielsa and some of our talented youngsters like Drameh etc remember.
I’m not saying Farke isn’t a good manager or that Cresswell isn’t a good player but some players don’t fit the manger’s system of play and he has no right to wreck a young man’s career. Let him go play somewhere and suck it up if that proves to be an error of judgement.
Good point but 4 months since the end of August isn't really that long in my opinion. Try harder to impress your manager would be my advice to Cresswell.
To be fair to the lad, he came on against Cardiff at 2-1 down and we drew 2-2. He was really good that day. Didn't have much defending to do but he was excellent in bringing the ball out of defence that day. Lots of fans praise Struijk for his passing but Cresswell was just as good that day. I was there for the cup tie against Shrewsbury and he was dominant all night. It was Struijk who got caught wrong side and deflected the ball past Darlow. It's kinda why I'm disappointed we've not seen more of him. It doesn't appear to be a lack of ability.
It was Leo Hjelde that deflected it past Darlow though Struijk was on the bench and replaced Hjelde at half time when we were 1-0 down
You miss the point as always. The point was that Cresswell had a good game against Shrewsbury. The goal came from sloppy play down the left side.
I was thinking similar when I saw Liverpool get drawn at home, expecting number 12 to be the next ball drawn
Cresswell was decent enough against Cardiff but it's pushing it a bit to say he played well given we were absolutely battering them for the whole time he was on the pitch. Against Shrewsbury, Birmingham and Salford I'd say he was equally acceptable and didn't see anything untoward, however I'm not the one giving him instructions on how he should be tactically approaching and playing during the game. For the record like most fans I'd like to see if he has what it takes, but we're not in a position to be blooding players for the future as things stand.
Agree but I think selling would be a mistake given he is contracted until 2027. Hopefully we get him out on loan so he can get games to come back and challenge or even increase his value for a future sale. On the difficult to impress as a defender in a dominant team? To an extent, yes. That might explain Struijk suddenly looking decent though?
If he couldn’t get picked or make the bench for a cup game against L1 opposition then he won’t be playing unless Farke gets sacked.
Agree. Cresswell is under contract until 2027. Farke might be gone this summer. The next manager might want him. That's why I'd loan him out and not sell him.
Yes. It's a bit like when Bamford takes a penalty. A miss is a miss and will always be remembered and regurgitated on forums forever more as the reason he is a ****.
