I was trying to figure out why Maddison has twice as many assists as anybody else over the last 3-4 seasons. He accurately picked out some nice targets, but it seemed like half the time he didn't necessarily get his head up, he just delivered a really good ball to where someone should have been.
Eyes in the top of his head . Seriously though, I think that is the way most deliveries are produced and forwards need to know where the ball is likely to land in a given situation, its practice, practice, practice. Toney was the one to watch out for today, according to the pre match ramble on Radio Newcastle, he being an ex Mag, rather than Maddison a Mackem evidently, who is supposed to blow hot and cold, he certainly blew hot to-day and tbh I was half expecting it. He was out to prove a point, and boy did he, and it was just as well for us that Toney had an off day, but they could only have dreamed about the assistance they got in that farce of a game. Watmore a fine player on the counter attack I agree, but he is a marked man in this league and has a tendency to be hacked out of games as we all know, sadly we need to practice the darker arts to prosper in this league, and to-day only confirmed that we are not even aware of the problem let alone addressing it. When we were still in the game we needed to change our shape slightly and introduce some pace, quite a problem considering the bench available, but Embleton and Dobson could have been an alternative to Gooch and Power who were very poor to-day and gave the ball away repeatedly. I was not surprised at all that Ross chose to send on our least effective forward will Grigg ( I goal in the last 15 ), not what was required at all, and again totally ineffective. A bit of a ramble this but I am still in a state of shock. OaU ? heres hoping.
Yeah it was a shocker all round, players and manager hit rock bottom today. The sending offs, both stupid, ONien swung at the man, soft but intent there. Wyke on a booking again senseless challenge. Would like to give Jack Ross a vote of confidence but I cannot, he's not the man to lead us out of this league
We need to see how they bounce back, its only one game after all, and comes as a shock after a good run of results, the sluggish starts are predictable but the performance after half time was a shocker, Ross has a lot to learn yes but baring a complete collapse we must give him time, at least until Xmas. to see if he is the man or not to get us out of this league.
Unbeaten in 7 having won 5 on the bounce, lose 1 and the gaffer needs the chop? The mind boggles it really does.
Well, they're sort of holding each other in a kind of tender embrace and then the Peterborough player crumples holding his face. No part of O'Nien was anywhere near his face.
There's another video on doing the rounds on Twitter, closer up, and you can see that when O'Nien swings his arm he grabs Toney's shoulder. It's some time later that Toney grabs his face and goes to ground.
So glad we were already 3 0 up before your sending offs .... so you can't say that was why we won Love to you all xx
****s sakes. no complaints about the result , but that is atrocious behaviour. i hope he gets a ban for being that sham acting
