Their pitch looked a bit better on their last home game, patches of green on it now. Mind, dunno if it was grass or the carrots coming through.
It still looked like the local farmer had driven his tractor down the right wing please log in to view this image

Worry not from what I saw on Friday Jones doesn’t use the pitch anyway. He just floats above the surface as defenders disappear up their own arse
I actually like that team. solid defence, two holding midfielders to slow it down and hold the ball to prevent them pressing high, and then that physical presence up front. Gets the thumbs up from me
I agree, this needs to be a calm and calculated performance, not a free for all. Peterborough will want a 'strung out game' where they can push us into mistakes and make us surrender possession. I'd like to see us get the ball out wide to players experienced enough to retain possession and alternate that with long balls up to the big lads which would really occupy their defence. With Leadbitter, and O'Nien etc, we have players who can do that. I wouldn't want our midfield/wing backs getting too far ahead of themselves. We did that against Oxford and they had a clear run to score the first goal. We have enough up front to cause them problems and I'd like to see us play football in their box, not ours. Get the ball forward, as quickly as possible, and put the pressure on them. I'm guessing our first goal will come from a free kick or penalty ... ... not sure about the others
It would be terrible if Northampton win at Hull ... ... and we fail at Peterborough. And it's not beyond Northampton on their current form, all the pressure is on Hull who've won one of their last three. Northampton have just beaten Shrewsbury and Oxford, in the last five, as well as drawing at Doncaster. They also recently beat Portsmouth 4-1 so they're obviously not a pushover.
This was my fear tbh. Leadbitter in a two. They have an energetic midfield. Would've preferred Scowen in there.
Exactly, Leadbitter just slows everything right down. As much as Scowen offers nothing going forward, we need his energy in there.
Though I'm nervous about the game I'm very relaxed about the starting line up and tactics because I'm just a fan and Johnson has given us every reason to believe he knows what he is doing. That line up will make sense based on the tactics but like with all of our games under Johnson there will be a plan b and c at the very least ready to kick in when necessary.
I was thinking about the game this morning and in my usual pessimistic fashion, I couldn’t envision a win for us, we always seem to lose the big games ... ... still think we’ll have a man sent off and they'll win through another dodgy penalty. please log in to view this image Oops sorry, I should've mentioned that's a quote from the Peterborough forum, seems like they have 'typical Peterborough' as well
Think Scowen worked that hard on Friday he won't have the legs for a full 90 again today hence the change...if it happens.
Ha aye they’ve are one of those clubs aren’t they, always competitive, always feel as if they belong at Championship level, but never get there or stay there at least. I just feel really serene about all things SAFC, like even if somehow we didn’t go up I’d get over it and think we’d have a 100point season (for clarity, I don’t expect this to happen, at all, we won’t blow it). It’s nice to not be sitting expecting a kick in the bollocks. Take some adjusting after 40 years. Just to add to the team selection talk, I’d be concerned about Leads against there CM, I love the lad and his link to the club but they would have an advantage in there playing around him.
Any team can lose, I'm not daft ... ... but I'll be surprised if we don't give Peterborough a real battle in every sense of the word. We roughed it up against Oxford but calmly passed Portsmouth into the ground. We're adaptable now and players know they'll be covered if they try something so the fear is less. Gooch moving from striker to full back shows how much they trust the manager and each other.
