... what a shame. Their keeper may be out for the season and the others aren't very good. "United’s untested back-up goalkeeper Dan Gyollai could be thrust into the heat of a League One promotion battle." "Posh boss Darren Ferguson believes Pym is definitely doubtful for the Swindon match as is forward Samie Szmodics who picked up a shoulder injury in the Sunderland game." https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk...heat-of-a-league-one-promotion-battle-3191779
As the home team, in a big Easter TV game, they weren't impressive imo. Their recent form is erratic and these injuries could further knock their confidence .... .... Sunderland, on the other hand, took a point away at a team above them, our form is excellent and we have key players coming back just at the right time.
All teams get players injured but we seem to have had more than our fair share, ours are well on the mend whilst others aren't so fortunate, which probably balances out over the season just like luck in other areas. If Posh are struggling then it's a real pity
Good news. Was checking out a bit of the Peterborough chat on twitter after the game and they were all agreed in how the manager (and the fans)have no faith in their backup keeper and how they "might as well name 7 outfield subs" Would be absolutely class if this young lad could be their Michael Ingham for a couple of crucial games
We're also lucky enough to have versatile players like Onein and Power who can adequately fill in in different positions if needed, as well as a good squad depth. I doubt any other team in this division could have had the injuries we've had and come through it as a well as we've done.
Aye. Absolute beast him. Had Wyke in his pocket all game. Him or Clarke Harris gets injured and they have had it.
When I saw the keeper holding his ribs and wincing, it reminded me of a test match a few years ago when Jimmy Anderson did something similar and Botham just said Intracostal muscle tear, six weeks minimum and he was spot on. Third choice keeper for a few games might make all the difference.
Our back 4 all out injured at some stage. No other club could have coped. McLaughlin, Willis, Wright, Hume.
Burge has been solid and let’s hope he stays injury free as I have doubts about Matthews and would probably prefer Patterson . Goalkeeper is a very important role and recall when Brian Clough signed Shilton for a large fee he was queried, he said he would earn Forest 12 to 15 points a season and he did -point made !
Its about time to be honest. Their front three have been available almost every week till the last fortnight or so Every little helps. We need a big performance on Sat from Swindon
Ferguson is surely living in a dreamworld if he thinks he can get an emergency loan keeper aswell Emergency Goalkeeper Loan 57.1 If all the Professional Goalkeepers at a Club are unavailable as a result of having been: 57.1.1 certified by an independent medical practitioner as being unfit to play; 57.1.2 suspended; or 57.1.3 called up to play for his national association representative matches in accordance with the requirements of FIFA as laid down from time to time, That is taken from the EFL website. They have two other fit goalkeepers in their squad. If they are ****e its tough like.
It would be a complete and utter disgrace if they are allowed an emergency loan. We have played with midfielders in defence for months. Did we ask for loans to cover it. No we used our squad. If Burge got injured we would have to play our number 2 in Matthews. They should be no different
All these 'mind games', watering the pitch, emergency keepers, etc, just seem like grasping at straws to me. Peterborough have faltered before and I think it'll happen again ... .... Ferguson will be tapping his watch next Thankfully Johnson just shrugs everything off and cracks on.
Unfortunately players are only considered "professional first team players" if they have made more than 5 club appearances, and neither of the back ups have. So they are entitled to an emergency loan.
Not just that, we’ve had an injury list akin to the one Liverpool fans say is the reason fir their failings this season. Not known any club with injuries like it. Ffs, the radio headline the other day was that Declan Rice is out for 2 weeks. we’ve had these injuries, managed them and hopefully are coming through the other side. Whilst those above us and around have had minimal injuries by comparison. luckily, we have players able to fill gaps. Players capable of playing in those positions. And we’ve kept our form top notch. Everyone says “without Charlie wyke who would score”. Well he hasn’t scored fir 4 games and we’ve won 3 drawn 1 I believe!
