Although we won the league last season, we also lost games against some real ****e. Swindon beat us while bottom of the league and ravaged by injuries. We missed loads of chances that day and came to rue it. So even in League 1 we did get punished at times. We also lost to Shrewsbury, Accrington and Burton. We're playing now at a higher level with the same team we had in those games, except our defence is weaker now.
Even last season it took half a dozen clear cut chances to convert one - but due to the level we'd create 12-15 chances in a game. This season we still need half a dozen chances to score, but due to the quality of opposition we don't get as many to waste. Fergie knew that if he drew us onto them we'd probably fluff our chances and leave space to be hit on the break. We created 8 or 9 golden chances and scored 1. They created 5 or 6 half chances and scored 2. Basically down to the quality of finishing.
