I hope all the travelling Charlton fans have a thoroughly enjoyable day out at Peterborough tomorrow. But let's not kid ourselves that it's going to be a great day in our Club's recent history. It's a 3rd tier league game. The day we secure promotion back to the Championship will be the first decent day since January 2014. But I wouldn't even describe that day (if it ever happens) as a 'great' day. We will be back to square one after five wasted seasons. Hooray.
@lardiman I said “one of the great away days”. Nothing about in our history. The same as Portsmouth last season was also a great away day
I accept that Royston was not suggesting that tomorrow will be a great day for the Club, but can be a great away day for the fans. I just wouldn't want anybody else getting the idea that we are beginning to accept the mediocrity of 3rd division football, or that we should be in any way grateful to Roland Duchatelet because Lee Bowyer has managed to make this a decent season so far. Remember, this forum gets a lot of readers from other Charlton forums We have many secret admirers...
I hope Mr van Gerwen had a good nights sleep, this could have been difficult given the excitement of one of THE away games in Charlton's history. #prayforthemod
Ivor has decided to go to the Peterborough game, apparently the 99p shop have given him annual leave. With him not having a ticket perhaps he should go on the home terrace to 'pad it out', there'll be plenty of room.
There is always lots of room on the home terrace behind the goal there - he can also have a ruck with their 14 year old hard lads
Brave words from @AllHellLetLoose I think you should go for a bet with me on Karlan Ahearne Grant. It will be nice to see you next Sunday with he of no trousers. I can scoff the breakfast and wash it down with a nice Krombacher. Bets paid
I can honestly say I’ve never seen so many Charlton fans in an away town centre as I have today. A lot of faces look to have come back for today’s trip
Confirmed. Karlan Ahearne Grant, the most wanted footballer on the planet is in today's starting line up. IF there was any strength in the rumours that KAG was in advanced talks with a club, at this stage the buying club would insist he does not play today.
An away point is always a good point, and it was important to deny Posh 3 points. But missing a penalty is not great. Charlton's 4th place position is beginning to look rather shaky; Sunderland are 1 point and 1 place behind us, but they now have 3 games in hand. Neither are we going to climb much higher in all probablilty; Barnsley are 1 point above us, Portsmouth 3 points better off - and both teams have two games in hand over us as well. It's beginning to look like we could be dug in at 5th place for several weeks as winter wears on.
Take your point Mr Lardiman, but I feel any play-off position is a bonus under this clown in charge. @Royston Vasey can f*** off with interfering by saying this shows lack of ambition
I'm not saying we cannot finish higher than 5th this season, but I think there is a big advantage to bagging 4th or 3rd place. Our home form has been a lot better than our away form, and the prize for a 3rd or 4th place finish is to play the second play-off semi-final at home. In my view Charlton will stand a much better chance of a trip to Wembley if we can bring our semi-final opponents back to the Valley for the second leg.
