You could lose those games but I did add the caveat in about trying to push on against teams of similar quality, as why I gave it a 50-50 chances of happening. You could still lose the games playing for a draw, like we did at Coventry, it is risk management but you always stand to win more (2pts) than you lose (1pt), assuming a default postion of 1pt for the draw.

We are never going to improve as a team or climb the table always playing for a draw... that will never change the status quo, we will always be a mediocre L1 side with your philiosphy and if you stop trying to improve you might aswell give up.

Could I manage Gillingham and do a better job? Yes
Do I want the job? No
Is Peter Taylor doing a good job? Ok in view of the limited funds/squad size. I would give him 6.5/10, like my school reports, could do better!!

Without being negative this season is a write off, its a year to let our young lads settle in to the club and gel together before we kick on next year. Taylor has the right ideas just sometimes we don't execute it so well, give him time, not the exciting choice but the sensible one.

Excellent post that one brb. I think a lot of us feel very similar. Want to see us have more of a go but without being too gung-ho. Play to our strengths, not just to negate the oppositon.

You saw the Peterborough game. Was that one more like we maybe should be playing? I get the impression we certainly pressed more without the ball and attacked more with it and looked dangerous. True?

I have also seen posts from people saying PT was getting stuck into Cody to get more involved, and into McGlashen to get further upfield. Maybe PT is just as frustrated that the players aren't pressing more and having more of a go.

BSG - Is it my philosophy now?!

The problem with your responses are always that you fil to read everything that's written. What i have said all along is that we should go at teams at home, last night was a case in point where we could have easily sat back for the draw but instead really pushed hard for the win. What i've said is that away from home, where we have been vulnearable for as long as i can remember i would prefer us to get a point then lose, now apparently i have a boring football philosophy.

I mean to pick up on something else you've said a lot, do you still think Cody doesn't deserve to start?! 2 more goals and worked very hard largely isolated, im glad we don't adopt your 'philosophy' to football.

Now we are just getting into semantics in terms of which philosophies are whose, it was simply a turn of phrase, not a personal attack. However I feel last nights perfomance supports my arguements, when we try to go forward we can match teams of the quality of Peterbrough, so why didn't we do the same against poorer terms like Coventry and Oldham? If we only look to draw games away from home, we will never get out of this division.

As for Cody, firstly I never said he shouldn't start at all only I felt given his form per season German deserved the odd start and if you read my latest post you will see that I accepted that he is first choice but I felt we needed to play someone up with him to get the best out of him, which we did with Norris last night and Cody got himself on the scoresheet for the first time in a handful of games. Although one was from the penalty spot so shouldn't count :p
