I wonder if twenty years later we will be bringing this up like SDM's for every fiver comment? I seriously doubt it. Mind you looking at Pete's corpulent chins I doubt he will be about either.

That about sums up this farce, Lawell made a joke and someone did not like it.

Tbh I never gave it much thought until I heard DJ on the radio tonight playing the mouthpiece for Rangers. It was embarrassing - mostly because of his bluster and obvious need to earn his club corn by making ridiculous statements and at the same time calling for a line to be drawn under the whole affair and a bit for me because I never spotted what this was all about when the complaint was made.

So in other words Big DJ (who I happen to like, he's a personable enough chap) wants to make his grand statement and then not talk about it again, so if anyone did phone and try to argue the point(s) he could tell them to move on.

One of his main thrusts was that this shows that Rangers will not take things lying down (any more apparently), they are going to fight back as many of their fans have demanded. (I'm paraphrasing here) He seemed to be suggesting that Rangers are getting a raw deal and people are (I hate to say it) kicking them while they are down and Rangers are not in the mood for people taking cheap shots at them.

This smells like propaganda. Get the Plebs onside by making a ludicrous complaint - knowing full well that it's doomed to failure - in the hope that a few shakey fist, angry Bears will start to view the current board members as Rangers men. Whyte did it, Green did it now the new board are simply employing the same shoddy tactics.

I would tend to agree the whole thing is idiotic. For once I tend to agree with the SFA both clubs should grow up. They both come up with idiotic soundbytes playing to the lowest common denominator then the offended try and grab the the moral high ground.

Concerning the latest outbreak I felt the response to Lowell's comment was embarassing. Okay it was a bit of a cheap shot (that's why I had my own one about his chins:steam:),but so what. They have both been doing that for years. Who gives a ****? Look at what happened in the Philippines in the last week. Why is Lowell's daft wee remark all over the front pages, because it sells papers. Likewise with DJ it makes people listen to his daft show. It gets our idiots going and gives the likes of Alby their aural orgasm.

In a couple of seasons when Rangers are back up there again, which I have no doubt about despite the goading of some daft arses on here we'll see how offended both clubs are with each other when they're trying to negotiate a better TV deal.
 
Or mibbe it will get some paranoid timmy types paraphrasing and distorting what he said to suit their own agenda .

The same thought passed my mind earlier when I read it. Usually they manage to make a mess of nonsensical situations such as this.
