And I've already explained that money lost will be offset by an increase in attendances as a result of increased competition and a new TV deal. Do you think Sky are going to stop showing Celtic games?
No money - no club. And all of your own doing Hmmmm, your infamous Kerrydale Accountants appear to have been proved right.
Two league games with a few extra thousand. Anyway, we'll make up for that for the full houses we'll get at games when we clinch the title and have the trophy presented etc
I'm noticing a pattern. 2010 - Denial - "Kerryfail Accountants" - Rangers are fine (some Huns on 606 actually claimed Celtic were in a WORSE state because they were able to see the published results to the Stock Exchange (which Murray didn't do) 2011 - Still Denial - 3 in a row nae dough (sic) - "Aye, well done, here - have the balance sheet trophy" 2012 - Begrudged Acceptance - "If we're going down, Celtic and the rest of Scotland can't survive without us" 2013 - Nostalgia - "Remember Rangers? I wish we'd listened to everyone who wasn't a Rangers fan telling us to stop blaming others or claiming we'd take them down with us." 2014 - Hearts, Airdrie and Motherwell record record attendances
Increased attendances? Where does that bit of guff come from? Oh, let me guess, from the team or teams that are gonny step up to plate to challenge Celtic for the league. Seriously? These same teams who can't compete now and are to withstand a loss of revenue from gates and TV/sponsorship revenue? You know. maybe it just might be crazy enough to work.
Yeah, like Aberdeen and Dundee Utd rose to the challenge the last time you were in danger of going tits up. The way Aberdeen and Motherwell rose to the challenge when we were in serious trouble back in the early 90s. Rangers skint = no money for new players = players sold = poorer team = unable to compete with Celtic = falling attendances = less money for everyone else. A skint Rangers is worse for Scottish football than no Rangers
Well it will mean an end to Rangers buying up the best young scottish talent and letting them rot in the stands. Calm down Gambol. Inadvisable for a man of your age to get worked up. Just lie back and think of England.
Ahm no angry. I even found time to have a laugh at Bib's fortune telling. Ahm no ecomomist either, but the demise of Rangers would spell trouble for the SPL. It would become a one horse race run on reduced income. In my opinion. But hey, who knows. Meanwhile I'll be at Motherwell shouting get in tae they ****in tims.
I'm disappointed that I didnae net a couple of beelers with that one. Where's that HTF guy when you need him?
Probably aye. either that or they will pay you **** all or the BBC will buy the rights. you'll be rolling in it
The Celtic board have been trying to distance themselves from Rangers for a long time. All this has been done with a view to potentially finding a new market for the club They know that they can make a mint from a move to another league. Dermot Desmond in particular knows he can clean up with a move Rangers dying might just be the news they've dreamt of like it or loath it rangers fans Celtic can make a certain amount of money with rangers around - that amount of money has been decreasing without rangers - potentially they could make a lot more. It might not work - it might take a long time. But business men like Desmond make their money buying something and turning it into much more in a way no one else could see to do with it. Its how he got the money to buy celtic in the first place Other leagues like the idea of the money Celtic or Rangers can bring - but dont want the hassle of the old firm- no old firm - problem solved New interest int he EPL or EPL2 (more likely celtic could just join 17 others in this league) could mean more money for them too
Celtic have a big, world-wide following. They would be cutting off their nose to spite their faces not to show Celtic games.
