I know you would have only have been a wee kid at the time, but did you ever see that old team play? I got so much passion for teams of that era, the Arsenal double winning team, Leeds under Revie, wasn't Venables at Palace or was that Allison, not forgetting Cloughie and Forest - until Liverpool fooked it all up in 85, I'll never forgive them for that.
Venables at Palace was going to be the team of the 80's . oh considering your last sentence iro of us you may wish to read up on the passion of Leeds in 75 or come to that any other of the too numerous to mention european "misadventures" by fans of english teams in that era .
my memory , which is notoriously flaky , is that he was at Palace and Venables took over from him . Allinson at BHA seems likely but honestly i think we would be better off googling so it at least looks like we have some idea what we're rambling on about .
My Dad first started taking us in 1958/59 season, Bonetti was playing along with a lot of the greats like Bluntsone,Tindell, Venables, Mortimer and Greavsie. Started going on my own at 15 years old, finished in 2012/13.
