Not just a great player but a great guy, always kept his feet on the ground. Saw him in Littlewood's on Clayton Street (back in the day) lots of times filling bags of 'serve yourself sweets' with his son, to sit in front of the TV with the family. Not one of the today type of players that seem to think they've got to be seen in all the flash clubs with a new date on their arm every week.

Without a doubt the best player to wear the black and white, always called messi the Argentinian pedro should have had more England caps as well.Testament to his skill and standing is the praise the likes of lineker/shearer/cole/keegan and anyone he's partnered up front has lavished on him. Also think it was the reason Dogleash got rid of him as well jealous he'd lose his god tag if he'd played more and stayed longer at the dippers.

edit: go and ask the Everton fans how distraught they were when we bought him back

Utter legend of a player, every time I see his face it lights me up with a smile just remembering what a great player he was.

Always pulled out his best in an England shirt as well...

It was Souness that sold him!

And I think the main reason for Beardsley not being as remembered by Liverpool fans its because he was playing in the same team as John Barnes, who was a more effective and spectacular player than him by all accounts. Still a great player though according to most Liverpool fans who watched that team.

Im a bit young to remember him playing but was he as consistently good as he looks in these videos? All of his play is like Messi but on **** pitches.

I've always thought they look similar, they must have used Pedro's genes in some kind of top secret lab to create the ultimate footballer.

Beardsley was soooo good that even Sunderland are a Pedro short of being a top 4 team.

Maybe not, but he was that good. Favourite Toon player of all time.
