People forget you have to deal in reality......Until it is mathematically impossible realistically we could be relegated. It should be discussed as it has been. Nothing wrong in being positive just as there is nothing wrong in the wisdom of caution. If you know anything about football at all you will know the expression "football is a funny old game" how true is that? Anything can possibly happen, doubtful maybe, unlikely maybe. I guess though the word used a lot is .....maybe!

You're quite right. Can I be the first to point out that even if we survive this season, next season is not looking good. We are already level on points with the bottom club and assuming we don't get through the season with a 100% record (which we won't) we are already reliant on others droppnig points for survival.

On one point we can all agree. A good win a Tottenham will end the debate (this season's that is). And lets face it, with our brand of football it won't be undeserved will it?

We're 95 (94/1) for relegation on the Betting exchanges. Wigan are 1/2 on, Villa and Newcastle are around 8/1, and if you fancy a long shot you can get 19 against either Norwich or Sunderland. Stoke are trading at 430 for the drop (429/1) but if you go on their board you'll find a similar thread to this one. So I don't think Francis Drake supported Stoke either.

Nah he was a Plymouth supporter wasn't he?

For a ship to come home safely it needs to reach the quayside and offload its cargo, sinking in the harbour mouth does not count as a success. Those of you of an optimistic nature can get the bunting out and strike up the brass band, I for one will reserve my celebrations until mathematics proves that relegation is impossible.

Not pessimism (as I dont believe we will fail) just hard headed realism, recognising that there is still a job to do which should not be taken for granted.

The pessimism makes me laugh. Just like last season, when some inexplicably expected Coventry to suddenly turn into Barcelona.

Probably, and Nelson's home team would have been the Canaries. I guess Churchill would have been either Oxford United or Oxford City.

There's a nasty rumour Nelson might have been a skate. Don't believe it myself, but he has docked his boat in a very dodgy spot, so it's possible.

I don't believe Drake, Nelson, or Churchill supported Southampton Football Club, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The thing that makes me most uneasy is when Beddy starts talking about mathematical impossibility, then I know we're in trouble!

Ha, yeh.
