Agree on those points. Do wonder what the coaching team are doing but it's obviously a collective issue. I certainly don't see enough commitment to pressing to say we're doing that... and if we aren't then what the hell are we doing? When I suggested a defensive coach I had images of corners and crosses in mind. Our players are not individually bad. League 2 sides can deal with crosses. There is no reason ours can't do so to a competent if not brilliant degree - it must be coaching, surely? Coaching gives you organisation, confidence, structure.. we lack those things.
Decent = wasn't responsible for the goals, passed reasonably well and made a couple of saves, one being very good. Really saying he didn't make a balls of things as per.
The defence should have cleared the ball long before the chance came along. I don't think Migs did much wrong bar maybe stay on his line rather that coming to clear the danger for the third. The header for the third went in via the only place it it could have gone in too. As I keep saying to people, moan about Migs if you want but moan about him for the right things, not made up bollox
We need someone able to consistently take quality corners and freekicks for us to be able to defend them. Assuming Gerrard's the one we look to, he needs to be involved in the defensive setup since he's playing ninety minutes of every game and is probably one of our better headerers too!
I was actually wondering about the training, how they drill them for corners... because with how poor Stevie's delivery has been recently they probably look world class in training.
As I also said, whoever takes them is then missing the defensive relays. Do we do attack versus defence for set-pieces? This wouldn't be good IMO as the attacking players in a game wouldn't know what to do. Plus, as I've already pointed out, where does Gerrard go?
All this season at least... few good balls in big games last season (Arsenal etc)... strange ability to lose.
