Got us talking anyway. IMO we will always have areas that we need to strengthen but a team where all the players believe in the manager and each other and go out on the pitch and work for each other is worth more than any money, see Man City under Mancini as an example. Unfortunately Man City now have the players, the money and a good coach.
Any chance of bringing down that plague at Finch Farm before the derby?? I know your dad probably doesn't approve of you abusing powers etc etc but this is a genuinely good cause
The trinity hypothesis suggests he is his dad ... and a holy poltergeist! Something to do with a shamrock or something. It's in Nuns on the Run
Of course but the point being that we don't have the money to be as strong as we'd like in every area. So with that in mind BR has to get the best out of what he has.
Feeling really cynical today. I think our owners dont want us to get fourth, they want us to miss out on champions League so that Luis will want out and they can get somewhere close to that massive buyout clause. Then they will anounce Stadium upgrades and we wont get the Luis money to put back into playing staff. Im not anti FSG, Im just in a bad mood.
Why would FSG want Luis's release clause to be the smaller value rather than the bigger one, for us to be in a weaker position in negotiations, and for extra tens of millions of revenue lost? Worst #conspiracy ever
We are paying for the reckless spending under the Dalglish/Comoli regime. (Ignore the fact that two of those signings: Henderson and Suarez have been two of our best players this season... and if we sold them the Dalglish regime purchases sales would more than break even) Nonetheless... I think Henry trusted his wallet to the club... said "here spend what you need to get us 4th"... and we ventured forth and purchased Downing, Adam and Carroll. Now he's more cautious and every signing has to be a bargain. Every £8 mill needs to produce a Coutinho. Every £12 a Sturridge. Well... that's fine... except you get more Aspas tacos for £8mil than you do Coutinhos.
Didnt realise there was a string of release clauses. Anyway this isnt what I think, as I said, Im just in a bad mood.
I'm totally behind LFC/BR in keeping to their strategy. If we can get quality players at fees we can afford then buy them. If they are not available or cost too much then keep the money. Sure that means the rest of the season may be a little harder but by how much? So Chelsea have bought 2 players and United 1 (probably). None of those players can guarantee either side success. Arsenal and City will be essentially the same sides that we have already played. So we have some injury problems. We have had those and suspensions etc since the start of the season. It's up to us to keep the momentum going. I'm not going to say that is easy but we have experience of doing it. We also have the advantage of playing all of our major rivals at home where we have built a good winning record. I just don't go with all this gloom. We may not be any better off at the end of this window but we are certainly no worse off. So still aim for the title and see what happens. We can only effect what we do and the results we achieve. Let them do the worrying. If we can buy who we want then do the deal if not it's not the end of the world.
i agree.. i do feel however knowing who's good enough to sign and putting a workable list that you can actually sign is on element... as in if you identify nobody for obvious gaps OR identify unrealistic or unavailable targets then its an issue..... we can only trust that the targets identified are good enough and if one needs to wait 6 months ok.... but you have to deliver now on the pitch. i just think that of the 1000s of midfielders out there that there are more than 2 or 3 good enough and there must be more than 1 available.
I mostly agree with you, Dave. However the teams you mention have MUCH bigger squads than us. What with injuries and loans our squad is not just small it's TINY. And that is slightly worrying. We're playing good football, and our first team is really good. These are massive plusses, but our squad size is cause for concern, IMO.
is it tiny? or... just not that good? some clubs would say we are so rich we don't know we are born i personally for onally that we've 4/5 that are just carp players nobody would want to play. aspas, aberto, ilori and a couple others who are debateable in rodgers eyes.. moses and cissoko... all are our choices.... wisdom and suso are out on laon.. thats 7 players right there that other of the top 4 would not play in all likelyhood.... nothing against the kids par se but they are all for future and we bought them on the strategy.
