Congratulations, we have travelled back in time. But look what I rescued - the match thread OP by tomw. If/when we get the old stuff back I will merge it all. Edit: We're not getting the old stuff back. So this is the new match thread. Saturday, 30th March 2013 St Mary's Stadium Match officials Referee: Martin Atkinson Assistant Referees: R West and H Lennard 4th official: G Ward Team news Saints have no injury problems that I am aware of, but Luke Shaw did pull out of U21 duty for England. Chelsea may rest a few players due to their hectic schedule, with an FA Cup replay against Manchester United on Easter Monday and a game against Rubin Kazan on the following Thursday in the Europa League. Last meetings Chelsea 2-2 Southampton, Premier League A superb fightback from Saints as goals from Lambert and Puncheon after half time got Saints a very good point at Stamford Bridge. Of course this was to be Nigel's last game in charge. Southampton 1-5 Chelsea, FA Cup A weakened Saints crashed out of the FA Cup to a strong Chelsea side defending their crown. Not a lot more to say about that game! Form guide Southampton: WDLLWD Saints with 2 fantastic wins against Liverpool and Man City in their last 6 games, with draws against Norwich and Wigan with defeats against Newcastle and QPR. Chelsea: WWLWLD Chelsea won against West Ham, West Brom, Wigan, with defeats against Newcastle and Man City and drawing at Reading.
I see Lawro has predicted Saints to lose 1-2. Guest, Stuart Maconie [1-1] came up with more sense in one line than Lawro did in an entire paragraph. Can anyone remember when was the last time Lawro predicted a positive result to a Saints game..?
From memory, if all Lawro's predictions were true, we would be mathematically relegated, while QPR would be top half of the league, pushing for a Europa place.
Amazingly, the last time lawrenson predicted us to pick up a point was on the 22nd of December against Sunderland, predicting a 1-1 draw.
Please do not take 'Lawro' and his predictions as any indication of how this game or any game for that matter will go! The guy is a complete clown. He's got QPR in 6th place in his prediction league table.
The BBC pundits analysis is so out of date. Its not just the shows format either, i.e, time constraints. That Irish dude that does MOTD 2 runs circles around hansen / shearer and inparticular Lawro and he has the same time constraints but he is much more smart. The game has move on so much since the 80's but their analysis hasnt. Sack em - we pay for them!
oops. sorry i do mean him. thats really ignorant of me - scottish of course!!!! But yeah i think he's awesome. He's really quick and he made Lawro look at an absolute Tw*t the other sunday night on MOTD 2. It was almost embarssing were i not laughing so much!!!
Nope, we're not even in the relegation zone, but we're on 10 points less than we are in real life. Scroll to the bottom of the page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21878638
In press interview, Mauricio says that he was not at the game at Stamford Bridge (NA's last game) and he was called afterwards. Says he was watching his son train at the time. Also asked about Clyne link with Chelsea, he said club had not been contacted, but jokingly added that the clubs were always the last to know as it starts with the agents.
