Two months ago we were looking like we'd get close to a European place - very important for many players. Now we look mid-table even before we lose players. Some are talking about selling assets as we could easily get 15 points and survival. Great for fans maybe but footballers with ambition would not be induced to come to such a club.
Tongue in cheek valley about you being right Michu ...Cost 2 million ...18 goals in the Premier 2012 - 2013...could have sold him for a fortune Bony...cost12 million...17goals in Premier 2013 - 2014 can sell him for a fortune Michu got injured and there goes the payoff, like Bodde. Timing is everything in business .
I still think we will get close to a Euro spot. I think Gomis will come good with a run of games and that we don't need to spend a penny to replace Bony. The £30 million however can strengthen our squad greatly with 3-4 players of quality.
What if bids came in for Ki, Ash, Fed, Gylfi, Fabianski, all players worthy of biggest fees would you sell them too ? and if not why not
Its not that easy Matt , each case is different .How much each player makes , how much we would get for each player , how bad do we need them .How much they want to go .How much we want them to go How old are they.Which window are they leaving .If January , how many points do we have and how many games left .How many competitions are we in .Do we need money ..etc
Yes but throughout this thread you're hoping 3 of our "top" players are sold , so have you used the same formula in deciding that nows the right time to sell Bony , Gomis & Shelvey ? ,I'd say we need all 3 for the remainder of the season ,who knows what injuries / suspension are in front of us where we still have half of a season to go .A few are confident that we'll reach the required points safety ,starting when ? ,the next few games will be a challenge to say the least and winning breeds confidence and losing saps confidence .The clubs below have history of spending and they will just to try to improve or better their current positions and where we are atm I believe will not reflect where we'll end up if we do as you suggest ,weaken the squad .
Perhaps the Bony deal may not happen https://mobile.twitter.com/TransferDaily/status/553292863597867008
Afraid so "Bony , Gomis and Shelvey, 35 million big ones in the bank .28 points from our first 19 games , only 10 points from our last 19 games would see us make another season in the Premier . Give Monk 15 million to""Fill in " and give him the remaining 19 games to gel the team for the following season . Just a business plan idea , even though we have 28 points I feel we dont have a 28 Point team at this point in time .A nice smooth 20 million in the bank and a new direction back to our way to play."
First of all , only Bony is in our " top 3" players, not the other two. That being said the only reason I feel we can sell anyone is the 29 points we have with 18 games left 1- Bony wants to go to play at a bigger club and get into Champions League, big clubs want him bad are willing to play handsomely...SOLD! 2- Gomis has hardly played so someone else can come in and play from scratch and learn just as well ,hes 29 , makes 80 million a week from the bench to this point , and is irate hes hardly played to dates and most of all 9 Million on the transfer...SOLD 3- Shelvey-Seems unhappy , overweight ,being played out of position , loose cannon all round.Time to retrieve some money back out of him....SOLD Everyone else seems happy and little chance of making money from them anyway to this point .Ki has to be the happiest guy on the team now that hes playing often , defenders seem happy , wingers are happy it seems , Siggy just glad to prove the Spurs wrong , Emnes seems a good egg with limited play (That will change ) , Fabs enjoying playing all the time , could make a bundle off him but why, hes happy. Not rocket surgery , the 29 Points with 18 games remaining gives us a lot of options , its critical to my thinking.
