pretty much the going rate these days for a half decent player with good PL experience. Our local rag (Leicester Mercury) are saying the fee is not more than the 28m record we paid for Slimani.
£30m **** me that is insane! As has already been said, 2nd half of the season he was the standout player for us and linked up so well with Rondon and Miggy. Miggy must be worth about £50m now at least on that basis. The downside of all of this is how the **** do we strengthen when £30m is being paid for average players at best? And for what it’s worth, I think he’ll be **** at Leicester, not exactly a glamour move either really is it?
30m cracking business for you guys that. Obviously depends on you reinvesting it though. Sturridge on a free?
30 million but we keep Ashley. No way a takeover happens when he sells a player for that if they had any plans for the player. Dark times. Ashley is asset stripping. Simple as that.
I’d be very underwhelmed if I were a Leicester fan and Perez was unveiled as our most expensive player! It would be like us paying Chelsea £25m for Kenedy!
I would of snapped their hands off to be fair. I've never rated him, ever. Didn't we sign him on a free from the Spanish second division? Can't complain on the return with that. With this sale though, and the revenue from last season I would expect our next manager to have atleast £50 million to spend. Knowing Newcastle United he will have about £3.50, a few pints and a packet of pork scratching to entice prospective players.
Apparently the €30m was a release clause in his contract so it looks like Leicester have met it as opposed to us agreeing to sell him.....polishing a turd springs to mind!
£30m for Perez is not the going rate. It’s not the going rate for a player of his talent. Even in this insane world he is worth a max of 20m based on what he has achieved. Leicester are over paying and will probably end up disappointed with what they’ve got. However it has to be said with Perez and Rondon gone, our side is shorn of any real goal threat. Given the unlikely reinvestment we look set for another relegation. We’ve been well clear in the end the last two seasons but both seasons we’ve had spells in the mire.
That's why we bought Almiron. Next season we sell him for £40m this meaning the fat man won't have to loan any money when we're in the championship. It's called forward thinking.
£30m for Perez is good money. You just wonder where this is all heading. Charnley & Ashley selling players yet the new Manager gets no say? I don't know why I'm even vaguely surprised.
Must admit my first thought on Perez was that this has clearly been the plan all along and Almiron was indeed signed as his replacement. We will probably secure a last minute deal for Rondon, then declare it a great window.
They were certainly looking to have a good understanding. Particularly if Almiron added in goals. We would have threats from all areas of the front line, all bringing something different to the party. If you look at someone like Liverpool, that is what make them so good. You have the low centre of balance and ability to beat a man in Salah, the pace power of Mane, then the finishing and deft touches of Firminio. Obviously our three weren't anywhere near that level but the premise of variety in your attack still applies.
Was Andy Carroll? Who gives a ****? They paid us silly money for him and if they want Almiron they'll have to pay us silly money for him too!
To be fair they're a different animal now though. Carroll was bought when they were rebuilding. They are near the top of the European Club tree these days.
