I know what you mean but I think the in and out process is about upgrading the squad without going down the route of previous regimes of having the wage bills out of control. The fans want to see him take a gamble and go for a more ambitious plan of speculating to accumulate. He isn't going to do it and whilst its not as exciting, I think we just have to get on with it.

Take the Wanyama example. If you think about the outlay in wages and transfer fee, it is CL style buying if we retain Tiote. We're not in the CL. People say you need two squads of players (like Mourinho said). You do but the depth of quality is largely dictated by your income or your owners desire to invest. We are going down the longer term approach of youth systems and capped spending.

I don't mind it but obviously in a world of money crazy spending it does leave you vulnerable at times. Personally I think its all got out of control and I don't really care if our strategy is risky, unglamourous and is out of sync with the rest. I'd be a hypocrite because I don't believe in a "if you can't beat em, join em mentality". I'd rather see all clubs investing more of their capital in the youth systems etc instead of extensive transfer policies. I would say though because I'm patriotic and want to see England do well!

The danger is you get left behind and its a big one. You can combine the two approaches of course if you have an owner like Citeh, Chelski who are quite happy to invest really heavily. That's not our situation though. He'll invest but in a much more restrained way. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a particularly big fan of Mr Ashley, and I really dislike Dekka. However although I think he made a terrible start, I accept Ashley has done a lot of good for the club in recent times.

I must say I think Sir Bobby's analysis reads pretty well for the club.

In each of the transfer windows we've replaced outgoing players with players of higher quality, except in January gone when we brought in a sack load of quality.

Yes but in all seriousness he was playing against Jonas flaming gutierez.

I'm all for good players staying but I'm not at all bothered if average ones go.

It was the lack of "average" that cost us this season - too big a gulf between "Purple" (Colo) and "Brown" (Willo). How often would we have preferred Raylor at full back to either Jonas or Tav? Besides which, Tiote has been worse than Perch this season - I'd sooner pick up £15m for Cheick than £2m for Perch.

I know what your saying but I disagree, for me it was Pardew selecting the same **** players week in week out and making the incorrect substitutions on day to day basis. The mans a moron and the fact he can barely string out a sentence without having to make up the end of it half way through says it all. Tiote is better than Perch I don't care what anyone says - why care about selling players for big money we wont get better selling the better ones just weaker it's like adding more water and taking out some juice.

Well, yes, but we can't just have every thread go back to being about how much of a clown the manager is!
