Having signed our first 'black' player in 1944 its fair to say we led the way in breaking down the racial barrier in the English game,its a pity the other English clubs took decades to follow our lead.

Not watched the ad and dont intend to so aint commenting on it...but one of the first black players in England was Walter Tully...played for spurs around 1909-11 think he played for Bradford too.
Fought in WW1 .... Think he died in war .... Its amazing that the or one of first black players was over 100 years ago when sky act like they invented football in 1992!

Great point rcl.

Tbf the player i referred to was Joe Louis(heavyweight champion of world boxing)who signed amateur forms for LFC during the world war 2.
He trained with the then team but never actually played,The first black player i can remember us having was Howard Gayle(1978/79).

But your point about Walter Tully 1909-11 is amazing.

<ok>

And yes Sky invented football-not.

<laugh>

Very desperate arguments, mind numbing in their stupidity. Just for the record, where did I say either thing (hint - nowhere)

Err, right here:

"You can't see anything wrong with how the advert portrays Africans in this day and age? Just because it is normal to denigrate along racial lines in Spain, does not make it right. You've found your home amongst the Klanfield brigade for sure. I bet Suarez wet himself with laughter over it."

And I think you'll find JJ was making a point about how people like you read too much into things in order to condemn others. You didn't say all black people are Africans, but you said those in the advert were, despite it not actually saying they were. Ergo, it's not a great stretch to suggest that you think all black people must be African, regardless of whether you do or not. In the same way you consider the advert racist, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary.

It's a huge stretch, not to mention a ludicrous one.

these racst general chat fools ought to realise nothing they type makes a blinds bit of differnce to anyone and just makes them look more and more low and laughable
