Not in well educated societies. You are right that we are going in a bit of a different direction in regards to the validity of a deity, but since you brought it up - there is no evidence that the laws you describe were not man made, in fact there is a lot of evidence they were man made. When you think about it most religious laws were incredibly practical for humans at one point in the past - pork went bad easily, sex with more than one partner gave disease, cutting your foreskin off prevented disease, stealing pisses everyone off, your mother and father are the ones who need you to behave yourself, and are also the ones teaching you this crap, so respect them, stop ****ing other people's wives it causes fights, share your food we're all starving etc etc
TBH I dont know the exact numbers as theys stand in 2012, but the hiv/aids epidemic isnt something that is less in educated countries. It IS better managed so with drugs/treatment there are less cases of full blown aids at any given moment (and even this isnt necessarily true in the past) As of the man made v god made argument I bought that in to counter a specific point you made in terms of US using reason etc. The issue you raise re pork, circumcision etc still hold today, although the reasons for these things were not/ are not what you highlighted. A lot of that was to 'explain' things to the average Joe and if truth be told has been the undoing of religion IMO Ironically most of the laws you describe a current and not rooted in religion. EG sex with more than one partner. Monogamy isnt a religious concept
They have something like 65% of aids related deaths Though the main religion is christianity its not catholic. Culturally the belief is to have multiple partners and lots of children. Many of the men dont marry but sleep around and have kids
Really? Are you being serious. How can covering up and staying silent be seen as a good position? For someone that holds the catholic church in such high regard, I thought you would already be aware of this story. Maybe you should read up a little or maybe watch the news to hear a little about how Cardinal Brady told lies, refused to help these kids and tried to push the blame elsewhere.
You dont know what regard I hold for the Catholic church and its heirarcy. And yes, i am being serious. If you ever took the time to try and read and comprehend the points people are making with absolute clarity you may start to fare a little better in debates.
Love how a conversation on turns into paddies arguing about religion ... AGAIN! Time for a paddy board!
You regularly speak highly of the catholic church and yet you are unaware of the details regarding the Sean Brady fiasco. Strange.
People are always stopping me in the streets when I'm meandering my way through town. Mostly curvaceous and voluptuous attractive women looking for sex. Not just stunners though I hasten to add. It's the aura of affability and charm which attracts them. What can I say?
To be fair we're not talking about the normal political bollocks, we're talking about the Catholic church's responsibility for AIDs in Africa - with Medro cheering in the background obviously because it paints Catholics in a bad light.
Catholism does have a lot to answer for though. All organised religions do. Thats not cheering just plain fact.
You could tell them you are gay as per your posts on previous threads. They could be your *** Hags. Some women are attracted to men they know they can't have.
