Rumours around that he has left the youth set up and this is part of a back room shake up!

Anyone heard anything?

I've heard it as well, and his departure is not before time, he's clueless, and always has been, I studied his methodology at the Swansea Schoolboys over many years, and he is crap! Glad the useless wast of space has gone........................<cheers>

Read the same thing, won't be sorry to see him go. Now for a quality coach with the likes of Monk and Trundle assisting, ready to take up the reins in a couple of years.

Very much so, lets hope Huw Jenkins and the board bring in someone Spanish, I vote for Bauzà, he's a gifted player, and academic too, would make a great teacher as head of academy!..................<ok>

Rumour started on P Swans, not heard of anything but there needs to be a shake up and whether Pennock (if true) leaving is just the start we'll have to wait and see.

Theres nothing wrong with fresh blood coming in , new ideas new coaches will freshen it up a bit. We have come on dramatically as a club gaining Academy 2 status but that means we need to keep improving both on and off the field.
I don't personally agree with clubs signing kids at 9 years but other clubs do it and so the cycle continues .

I don't need to know him, I judge him on his results, and he left the School boys in a mess, and I haven't seen any results from him worth talking about at the club, he was a second rate goal keeper, who doesn't have a clue about the game, and we do not need hangers on, what we need at the grass roots is men of ability and calibre that can cut to the chase and spot real talent and develop it, something Pennock is clueless over................<ok>

we were a mess before he came so you cant put that on him with the amount of work he has been doing to get the youth teams running properly again. Its nice to win your games but if you know anything about youth football which you so plainly dont then its not about winning its about development for our youngsters....

Not sure how long he's been in charge but about 10 years ago my son was selected as a goalkeeper for Welsh Schoolboys. He'd also got into the Swans setup but we found that one of the coaches had a son who was an outfield player and because competition was so fierce he never got a game. So he put him in goals at the expense of my kid who was a specialist keeper. I'm not making this up. My son was relegated to sub and stopped altogether shortly afterwards. After that the whole Welsh schoolboys thing became a fiasco and he became disillusioned, never playing at that level again. I'm sure it's a familiar story.

A very unprofessional bunch based on the who-you-know network. In fairness it may have changed since then.

absolute rubbish and very disrespectful to swansea city if you think that. Im sorry knackered but you are bias just like any father would but you have to respect the coaches and they obviously did not think he was good enough at that time, Thats not to say he was rubbish but that there was a kid a bit better. Youth football at all levels is about development and discipline and not necessary being picked to play,All kids will be monitored for a good period of time and most wont go any further. We have 9 youth levels that are all run professionally and tony had time for every single kid as well as their own coaches and would speak with them if they had a problem. day or night, He has worked wonders at swansea and now it is being run right and its job done for him and now he is to be given a job by the club at a higher level. So he must have done a good job at the end of the day...

"Absolute rubbish.....Thats not to say he was rubbish but that there was a kid a bit better"

...who happened to be an outfield player who had never expressed an interest in going in goal and was also a coach's son. <laugh> My kid had already been selected as one of only 2 keepers at Welsh schoolboy level and had gone through numerous trials to get there.

I did say this was a while back and things may have changed.

You don't know me but I was always my son's biggest critic as well as his biggest supporter. What happened to him was disgraceful. So please don't say I'm talking 'rubbish' and do try and articulate a more polite response next time if you disagree. It's not hard.

. . . club appoint highly-rated Spaniard as Academy Consultant

I have been appointed to help develop the way Swansea play football throughout the Academy structure."
- Josep Clotet

Swansea City is pleased to confirm the appointment of Josep Clotet as Academy Consultant.
Better known as Pep, the 36-year-old Spaniard has been handed the task of improving the structure of the club’s Academy, with specific emphasis on training methods and coach development.
Born just outside Barcelona, Pep played for his home-town club CF Igualada before injury curtailed his amateur career and led him to coaching children with local side UE Cornella.
He attained his Uefa Pro-licence in 2003 at the age of just 26 and joined La Liga outfit Espanyol where he was given responsibility for the Under-17 squad.
From there he progressed to the Under-19s where he won the Spanish championship, before stepping up to clinch promotion with the Reserves.
After five years with Espanyol, he became assistant-manager to Roland Nilsson at Malmo where he helped win the Swedish championship in 2010.
He joined fellow top-flight side Halmstads the following year as head coach before moving to Norway as head staff coach of Viking FK under manager Age Hareide.
There was a return to Spain in July 2012 as Pep was appointed Reserve team manager and talent developer at La Liga side Malaga where the club enjoyed one of its best campaigns with Champions League football.
It was Pep’s ability to develop players for the first team at both Espanyol and Malaga that saw his reputation soar in football circles, including a spell as Director of the Catalonia Federation’s Coaching School where he developed several high profile courses for Pro-licence coaches.
There are currently over 20 of Pep’s former pupils playing top-flight football around the world, including the likes of Tello (Barcelona), David Lopez (Espanyol), Fabrice Olinga (Malaga and Cameroon), Sergio Tejera (Espanyol), Alexandru Maxim (Stuttgart and Romania), plus Swansea’s own ex-Espanyol duo Jordi Amat and Alvaro Vasquez.
“I have been appointed to help develop the way Swansea play football throughout the Academy structure,’’ explained Pep. “It is vital that the Academy produces players able to perform in the Premier League in a style the club has been developing over the last seven or eight years.
“I have been very impressed with what I’ve seen over the last few weeks. The club is all united in not only developing the first team for the present, but also the whole club for the future.
“The work they have done to provide the excellent training facilities at Landore, plus the additional development at Fairwood, highlights the importance they are placing on the future.
“They all want to leave a legacy for Swansea City, which is incredible because you rarely see that mentality at other clubs. Usually it is just about the first team and immediate success.’’
Pep has been all over Europe in recent years studying the game and admits: “There is no right way to play. It’s about finding the one that suits you. There is always a mix of styles, whether that’s Barcelona or Ajax.’’
Pep has been keeping a fairly low profile since officially agreeing to join the club last month.
“I’ve been quietly analysing the 16 to 21 age groups before taking a look at the younger teams,’’ he adds.
“I want to help analyse all aspects before working together with all the other coaches at the club to put a very clear system and structure in place.
“I’m here to be a support for all the coaches and help Swansea City remain successful for many more years to come.’’

Well done Huw, new you'd bring in someone Spanish, that really does show to me that we are at last starting to take youth development seriously, the club are at last realising the importance of getting men of quality in to develop our youth! Am I psychic? hell no, just understand where we are and what's needed...................<applause>

I know all the coaching staff at Swansea, and most are crap, so Pep (Josep Clotet) will weed out the garbage and develop the better coaching staff "with specific emphasis on training methods and coach development"

Dai sit down
