No seriously, he's actually gone. Left by mutual consent this morning. Jamie Day has also followed Ady out the door. No doubt a very nice guy and can't fault his efforts as a player for us but tactically not up to it. Plenty of young hungry managers out there to go for and please this time go for somebody with no previous Gillingham connection Mr Scally.
Scally can you not get anything right? He went five days too soon Well I was nearly right about his departure date
Problem is from what I saw on Saturday, although most of the players will try hard, they're just not of a high enough standard, and that the best a new manager will do is keep us in L1. At the moment though I'd settle for that. But shouldn't some fingers be pointed at Taylor? Isn't he the one in charge of player recruitment?
Feel sorry for Pennock - nice guy but clearly out of his depth in Lg1, Scally should never have appointed him.
Right lads just got off the phone to Scally. Sorry and all that but i just spent the last few hours telling him to not put Taylor in charge. Unfortunately you can lead a horse to water but you cannot force it to drink it... Taylor's in charge! So i asked Scally as a desperate last resort if he can make Taylor at least play one up front? The answer watch this space...
Does anyone think Ade has been used and abused twice by Scally. Firstly as a player he never ever got the testimonial or part share in one he seemed to be expecting. I know he put his own head on the block with the manager's job. In reality though was he just a pawn in PS's financial control plan; and having served his purpose is now discarded?
At least Scally says "the search will now begin for a new manager." Let's hope that that search does actually extend further than Taylor given that we are reportedly getting hundreds of high quality applicants every time the position becomes vacant. However one would have the question the sanity of anyone really wanting to be manager at the moment - the classic Groucho Marx "I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member" comes to mind. On a slightly more serious note, I'm really not convinced that Taylor would actually want the job and think that he's happier in his current (or until this morning, current) job. And I presume, brb, that when you are requesting Taylor to at least play one up front you were actually referring to one player. Unless you are keeping your own royal heritage a secret, the image of HRH in full opening of Parliament regalia chasing an upfield hoof, or outjumping the Peterborough defence as a corner comes in, would be quite something. And before anyone else says it, you never know, she might do a better job.
I have seen a lot of fancy names banded around for prospective managers, the problem is we need certain things from any candidate. He must be cheap. He must have a track record of working without a budget. He must have the ability to polish turds.
1. Only ever, ever, ever select the supporters favourites in the first team line up 2. Nelson is England's number one, so do not play any other goal keeper 3. Don't ever travel to Shrewsbury
