I wouldn't be so sure Simon - Warnock was probably given some of the money from the Howson sale for Pearce, the rest he has had to generate by cutting the dead wood, trimming the wage bill and wheeling and dealing. We haven't got Peltier yet and if we do get him it will only be out of the Snoddy sale. Grayson was limited yes, he was hard done by but he certainly never helped himself with Mikka, Forrssell, Paynter, AOB, Bruce, Nunez and some of the other poor quality players he brought in on loan, not to mention whatever money he wasted on Danny Pugh. Warnock sent half the loans packing as soon as he had the chance, he allowed Bruce, Parker, Mikka, O'Dea and Forrsell to go as soon as he could, even at a basic £4k a week he was trimming the wage bill by around £85k a month right from the start
I like the lad - That said our defense was cack last season (actually so was our midfield and come to think of it our front line was woeful at times ) given how we performed last season I'm not precious about letting any player go - I do think he'll be a good purchase in a different defense
People always bring out the bad signings, but really think about how it happened. He was never given the funds for his main targets and so had to settle for 3rd/4th/5th choice, when they inevitably failed he had to get someone else in as a replacement, and so the cycle continued.
I can honestly say, had I been turned down for 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice signings I would have saved the signing on and wage fee's rather than sign some of the crap. I still will never understand why we signed Forrssell and Mika, we signed O'Dea and had contracted players in Bruce, AOB, Bromby (who gave them their contracts) and it didn't take a genius to work out Paynter was a one season wonder at Div 1 level. Grayson wasn't supported by the board, he was a little hard done by but he did make some massive mistakes which certainly never helped his cause. It wasn't like we had one season of crap defending either, every fan on every forum was crying out for a better defender and Grayson spent the little we had on Pugh, Forrssell and Mika.
But he wasn't able to sign better defenders! He wanted players like Gorkks and Higginbotham and was forced to settle for O'Dea etc.
As I've said on our board. Bang average defender. Had probably 2/3 real quality games that he backed up with 20 ****e ones.
Sadly a bang average defender for you lot is a vast improvement on who we have had as right back for years. Happy with this addition
Looking at his twitter account and a few Leicester fans comments he will be missed, a few mixed opinions, some think he was very good others very average but like Bucks said, he sure beats what we had playing at RB last season.
He is well liked. He tries very hard and plays with a smile. He just lacks talent. An example of his total lack of positioning is in the video at the top of this page on FoxesTalk. Look how he just leaves the ball for Winston Reid to score a tap in. http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/82910-lee-peltier-has-signed-for-leeds-united/page__st__60
Hunt I thing is probably the best right back in this division now I believe he will one day play for England so I was surprised when it was mooted that they were after him!
Apart from Gradel you have took alot of crap players off us. Glass knees Kisnorbo Mark De Vries, Radostin Kishishev, Alan Sheehan, Darren Kenton, Nathan Blake, Matt Heath to name a few. All shockers
I don't think Matt Heath came directly from Leicester, we signed him from Coventry. By the way thanks for the £3M for the useless Matt Jones
Kisnorbo was immense in L1 and De Vries scored a vital goal or 2 when Beckford and Kandol were suspended. The rest were crap!
**** me I forgot he came from Leicester - Leicester can give us their **** for the next decade and it still won't balance out in a negative when you compare it to what McAllister did for us.
