When Peltier signed for you I said he was average But now hes signed for us hes mint Seriously tho hes gotta be better than ****ing connolly
Remember Leicester were the team that sold us Gradel on the cheap and look how he performed when pulling on the Leeds shirt
We always knew Gradel had ability, he just couldnt get it out of him on a consistent basis We have seen what Peltier has to offer and he is a decent championship player but nothing special. For the price what you paid you could of got someone better Put it this way we sold Sol Bamba for less then what you paid and Bamba is alot better then Peltier
He wasnt reliable enough as a defender. He doesnt fit the Pearson mould either As soon as Nigel came in the writing was on the wall for Bamba
I am seeing figures from £400k to £750k being mentioned, the general feeling is £500K upfront with bonuses?
When he played def mid, seemed that he wanted to play centre half. Passing not good enough for that position - he looked lost. better off without him, with the centre halves we have now
Bamba looked like a defensive mid playing centre half and when he was in midfield he seemed to want to go back into defence Because he was entertaining people often over rated him.
Nige tried him in CDM towards the end of last season and he (and myself included) didn't like the outcome. I hope he does well in Turkey, I have a lot of time for the man.
I thought Bamba and Peltier were both promising, but if you don't fit the manager's ideas then it doesn't really matter - plenty of players have gone on to prove managers wrong - or right. This time last season we worried about losing Bamba to Everton who were reportedly coming in with a £2 to £3 million bid Warnock is raving about Peltier and says he reminds him of Kyle Walker when he had him on loan at QPR etc I love it that we all feel we know more than managers who see these players day to day in training and do football as their 'day job' .. but that is why we are all so interested - we are all frustrated managers! Gradel is a good example - history, in the cold light of day, says that our current manager got it wrong - he sold a burgeoning talent for nixies to a real competitor - if I did something similar in my day job my bosses would be none too impressed. But you have to let the manager manage - I just hope that the 'team' now being created succeeds without the likes of Bamba and Peltier - if it does we'll all be happy - if not - well we all know where managers who underachieve end up .... Hull ... oops I meant Hell (managerial Hell metaphorically obviously)
I don't think the writing was on the wall - whenever Nigel had the chance he put Bamba into the team (to the extent that SSL threw a mardy). It was clear he had natural ability and Nigel recognised that but he wasn't reliable enough for a CB. At first I was disappointed to see him go but if you had to choose between him and Whitbread then it's a no-brainer.
