Signed undisclosed fee

Just wish we would sign a quality wide player for midfield now.

Leeds have signed Leicester City right-back Lee Peltier on a 3 year deal for a fee reported to be around £500,000. Peltier had been linked with Leeds earlier in the season, but his transfer fee left Warnock with problems completing the move with Leeds quite cash-strapped until the neverending takeover is complete. Leeds have beaten off Simon Grayson’s Huddersfield who were determined to sign Peltier, apparently as a defensive midfielder, before being priced out.

The 25-year-old was an ever-present in Leicester City’s side last season, making 44 appearances following his £750,000 summer transfer from Huddersfield Town. However new Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has opted to mould his expensive squad to his image and that means – according to rumours earlier this summer – replacing Peltier with Hull City’s Liam Rosenior, who Pearson worked with at Hull City in 2010-11.

Leeds were set to profit from Leicester’s position, with a cut-price deal in the region of £300,000 being on the cards at one point, but with Huddersfield’s interest and no money to complete the deal with, Leeds had to wait. Matt Mills has since been sold at a knock-down rate and Leicester decided they wanted to recoup more of what they paid for Peltier.

Not really, the defence looks decent but there is absolutely no flair or width. Listening to the Preston match I'm getting a bit sick of hearing "Varney... poor ball".

Yep agree. We are solid at the back from Kenny all the way up to Austin (hopefully he seems to fit the bill) and we will be hard to beat. We lose Rosco and you wonder where the spark of creativity is going to come from. We are packed full of leaders but we are missing one or two 'mavericks' to add to the pot or we are going to be to predictable.

Add a good winger and AM (Templeton and Quinn would be my preferences) and we'd be looking much better.

Great player you got there <ok>

Glad it wasn't for the rediculous £300k price though, much better player than that price tag would have reflected.

Get him up for corners, hes not particularly tall, but hes great at getting his head on a cross.

He said it was coming together nicely, not that it was finished! We're in a good position, providing we have the cash to sign the right players. A top centre half, a creative midfield and a winger and we're not looking too bad.

But Colin doesn't want that, he wants strikers for some reason. And all the thickos on twitter/WACCOE lap it up because they're drawn to strikers like small children are drawn to shiny objects.

Maybe it's 4-4-2 this season then? Personally I prefer two holding players with a playmaker in behind with two wide players. It's served us well before and with so many defensive options in midfield it probably makes more sense...still, I'll wait and see before passing judgement <ok>

And getting back on topic Peltier is a good bit of business and I think our back line is solid <ok>

Looking much better! Still would be happier with Crainie in as cover and a top centre half alongside Pearce. Think Lees will be excellent in time but not sure he's promotion standard just yet. I'm not convinced we need a striker unless McCormack goes, so for me it's now just Crainie, a creative midfielder, a centre half and a winger, preferably Templeton, and we're sorted!

Just started a new thread, Warnock has said he hasn't the funds for two more players. Also said after the game he is going to be having a chat with Cranie so sounds like a contract will be offered.

Crainie got offered a contract about 4 days ago

Back 4 looks good. Centre of midfield looks solid enough. Width is there, especially as White seems to be chipping in a bit more than last season. Attacking midfield may be a proble, but time will tell. We do need Ross to stay & Becchio to do what he normally does. If we can't get a quality forward, Somma will need to come back firing.

Let's hope we agree deals to clear the decks of those who will no longer figure & then bring in a couple more. Warnock expects to get more goals from midfield. So let's see who starts next Saturday & use that as a guide to our season

I am going to say I believe we will have George Boyd by then, reading between the lines of what NW has been saying. It is not a signing that would inspire me but you cannot deny he has scored plenty of goals and chips in with assists - Year to go and refused a new contract, transfer listed at £1M I am sure NW is trying to drive that price down as we speak <ok>
