And then Fergie left. A huge defining factor in his lack of form and place in the side. The only fact about van Persie is that we should still have him and for two more seasons at least. We would not have won that league title with Lucas bloody Moura.
Even Pedro's agent says we were in for him - but hesitated - (from sky sports) Manager Louis van Gaal tried to play down his interest in Pedro during his Friday press conference but agent Antonio Sanz insists Chelsea capitalised on United's last-minute hesitation. "Maybe Manchester United fell asleep," Sanz told Radio Club Tenerife. "The negotiation with Chelsea was like a lightning bolt. "It is common knowledge that United were in the bidding for Pedro, but Chelsea were faster and within 24 hours reached an agreement with the club. It was a whirlwind."
If United hesitated then they can't have been very convinced he was the right signing. They didn't hesitate over Depay.
It confirms that United and LVG had doubts about the value of the player to the team, so rejected him at the last minute and let Chelsea buy him. I can understand the anti United press making a big deal out of it but Chelsea and Jose themselves didn't say they got Pedro ahead of United (to be fair) just like City never even hinted that they got Otamedi, ahead of United. The press speculates but the reality is that had LVG REALLY wanted the player United would have got him.
You can't know that. But yeah I agree with everything else you said. I think there was some hesitation from United, whether they got cold feet over the signing or hesitated over the terms, who knows. But I don't think it was a case of it going swimmingly with the United negotations and one call from Jose made Pedro go "Nah **** United, Chelsea rule!!"
Given that we were apparently hours away from signing him two weeks ago, it seems pretty obvious that something stalled over our transfer which led to Chelsea swooping in. Whether that something was us not being convinced by the player, us not being willing to pay the fee, or Pedro not being sure he wanted to join us is anyone's guess. But it does seem increasingly likely there was hesitation from Utd, as if Pedro had been the one hesitating them I'd have thought Chelsea would have shown their interest back when he was first made available by Barca in early August.
Pedro, 28, says he turned down offers from Manchester City and Manchester United to sign for Chelsea and confirmed he joined the Premier League champions because they showed more interest in the former Barcelona winger. How can this guy say this as United have been linked to him for a while, Chelsea came in the last minute!!! Idiot!!!!
After walking the league on zero net spend, it is time to prove he can splash the cash well again. Stupid leaving business so late again though, even when you have the best negotiator in the business: marina granovskaia
He has seen the state of your defence and realised if he waits another year you will already have fixed it.
Net spend to win the title was £272million. £54million of that was Jose's work. Now if you want to talk about a real genius net spend manager then I give you Sir Alex Ferguson. The 2006/7 title was won on a net spend of £39million. He then won another title and the European Cup on a net spend of £26.5million and then another title on a net spend of £34million. After that he really started to show off and he won another title on a net spend of minus £51million! That's why Chelsea Pensioner thinks you're stupid!
