Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona to sign winger Pedro for a fee of £21m.
The 28-year-old, who was a target for Manchester United, is flying to London to finalise terms on the transfer.
The Spain international is a product of the La Liga club's academy and has scored 99 goals in 326 appearances since his debut in 2008.
He will be Chelsea's second signing in less than a week after the arrival of Ghana defender Baba Rahman.

Bit of a steal if you ask me. Glad the board decided we weren't going to settle with what we had. Expect a departure/ signing or two more now.

Another United target down the drain <laugh>

City just nabbed the Valencia defender too, add those to Ramos and Ronaldo not going anywhere and the few Germans that told vG to **** off bar one in the twilight of his career, who earns far more at United now than when he was at his best with Bayern :D

LvG must be an epic **** to work for

Decent player, maybe what we need for some more cutting edge in the final third. front four of Cesc, Hazard, Pedro and Costa
Still think we need someone behind them next to Matic though.
We won the title with Oscar there last season though I guess.
Just a shame to waste an opportunity to improve. Guess a new CM is a pipedream.

Just need a CB now then.

Pedro comes with a big name and experience. His biggest impact will be stopping teams playing Hazard out the game. Big fan of Willian but teams dont consider him as much of a threat as Hazard, so with Pedro to contend with we can channel our play through different players stopping our opponents focusing on just Eden. At least, thats what I hope.

I agree, maybe still need to look for better CMs but I think Oscar has a big part to play there. A CB is our priority I reckon.

This also gives us an option of playing Hazard centrally with Pedro on the left.

Ultimately I think the 3 behind Costa will be quite interchangeable and certainly gives us better options than Cuadrado.

For a man that's played so often for Barca i can't really actually remember seeing him play much at all, if ever.

Is he a hard worker? That seems to be a trait favoured by Mourinho. In my head he's not particularly quick, or skilful and doesn't go past people... Kind of like Ljungberg. Don't really know why he's good but still quite good, gets in good positions and a goal threat. Or have i got him completely wrong in my head?

He's quite quick and I've seen him go past many a defender, he's also a good finisher.

Presumably in the first 11 he'll take the place of Willian (serves him right <grr>). If so, has it improved you that much? Will leave you a bit more exposed defensively also.

Gets a fair amount of goals for a midfielder and has the work rate. The fact he's right on the fringes of Barca's starting 11 despite the amazing attacking talent they have points to how good he is. A very good signing if it happens; especially for 21 million.

Hard to say but you could have Pedro Hazard Willian as a 3 potentially. Ultimately it's having options. And if it means when we're losing we bring on Willian or Pedro over Cuadrado then all the better!!

Great signing, especially at the price quoted too. I think we'll look much better with Pedro right, Hazard left and Willian behind Costa.

Fabregas has has been dreadful so far so the competition will do him good.

I still think we need two more though. A CB and a CM.

I did see on Twitter yesterday I think that Cuadrado will be allowed to go on loan and Kenedy will be in the first team now he's got a work permit. Jose considers him to be a similar level to Moses and Rami, I'd hope he was a little better than both though....

That was before van Gaal watched the Super Cup on Monday night, he pulled the plug after that <ok>

    This is interesting

United insist that it was their manager who decided against moving for Pedro despite executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward having flown to Barcelona on Monday to discuss the deal. It was not the only piece of business on the agenda for Woodward

I've been waiting for hours for one of you lot to show up and bite <laugh> Ye bickered over pennies and Chelsea got in, you should have had the deal sorted weeks ago, no decisiveness.

I think you mean rug pulled not plug, pulled out from under your feet by Chelsea <laugh>

Don't be so ****ing tardy next time <grr>
