Initially the 3 centre backs were supplemented by Simpson & Konchelsky, now he's gone with the attacking options - Schlupp, De Laet & Albrighton. I am glad you were going to grudgingly mention Albrighton. Six games - Five wins. Coincidence? Football in general and players and managers particularly seem to think they are different from everyone else in life. If me and you do things right in our jobs we should be congratulated but if we do things poorly/wrongly we should be able to take criticism from bosses, customers, suppliers, colleagues etc. not act like arrogant s****. Pat Murphy was actually saying what countless people were thinking.
I think this season was going to be make or break for Albrighton and overall he hasnt had a good season as he has been nowhere near the first team for most of it But his recent form proves he is premier League class but he needs to do it over a season and not a few games at the end which is something he used to do for Villa aswell Next season he really needs to have more of an impact across the season rather then at the end
He hasn't had a good season because other than Newcastle away, where he didn't do much wrong, he hasn't been selected.
And there was a reason why he wasn't selected and Nigel Pearson has revealed that reason today. His training performances wasn't up to standard and I suspect that might be down to he struggled to fit in. He seems a shy lad who needs an arm around him and with his recent performances he probably feels part of the team and feels he is proving his worth now
Only for three very tough away games (Man City, Everton and Arsenal). That back five was clearly intended for damage limitation and not a long term strategy. Yes. Or, more accurately, it's one of many reasons and certainly not the only or main reason. I didn't begrudgingly mention Albrighton. I said an in-form Mahrez is better than an in-form Albrighton and therefore think Pearson has been right to opt for Mahrez earlier in the season. Mahrez is now out of form so I am 100% in favour of Albrighton playing instead. Only Pearson critics who want another stick to hit him with. I find it interesting that most branches of the media, including Sky and BT Sport, have defended Pearson and thought Murphy was out of order.
Pearson doesn't make it hard with his outbursts for criticism to come his way. I don't see BT Sport but Sky's reporters are so tame and sycophantic as to be a waste of time more often than not. As I've said before I really rate Mahrez and think he should be in the team alongside Albrighton. Anyway at this stage of the season I hope whoever plays can get us the points we need to stay up.
BT have Michael Owen as a lead commentator, and I have to say he is probably the worst I have heard in my lifetime. One of their leading pundits is Robbie Savage - nuff said. With regards to comments made, we all have opinions and are all free to make comment based upon them. He would certainly not have a career in politiics and is polar opposite to one of Leicesters finest in Matt Gillies. Time will tell whether he becomes a successful Premiership manager. I admire the way he looks after the players, but do have concerns for those players that may feel marginalised.
If we go down, Pearson will get Criticism for all his "crazy" antics (which have helped us win 5 out of 6) but if we stay up his "crazy" antics will be called a masterstroke by taking pressure off his players. Its a fine line
Pretty much Gary's thoughts "He's been accused of being slightly arrogant and patronising but he's kept the players together, he's kept them focused and kept the belief. "He clearly knows what he's doing in terms of his job and that's all that matters really. He can be a bit quirky. But Jose Mourinho can be difficult at times and he's done all right." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32585153
It would be great to have both Albrighton and Mahrez in the team at the same time, unfortunately Mahrez is so out of sorts at the minute, I'm not sure I want to see it right now (although I suspect Pearson may play Mahrez again on Sat). Any manager has traits that can be picked on by unhappy fans. Truth is, most fans that have supported Pearson throughout the turbulent times (ie, our poor form at the end of the in the 2012-13 season, some of our cup eliminations, our play-off "failures", results for much of this season) have supported him on this. For others, as I said, it's another weapon to use against him.
Ive fully backed Pearson since he returned and yes he had made mistakes but he is allowed to. He doesnt need shooting or sacking for it Albrighton hasnt been good enough this season in matches or training (NP words) Recently he has come into the team and performed very well and rightfully kept his place Mahrez has been one of our best players this season but the nature of flair players is they blow hot and cold. NP has rolled the dice in recent weeks and he has got pretty much everything right. The media are on his back but after all he has achieved here and where we are at the minute i find it baffling our own supporters question him as the manager of our football club
I think he had little choice but to change to a more attacking approach. (I understand from a friend of a friend that this is what the players wanted) Pearson with his attitude sets himself up to be shot at by the media. We support the football club, that is the one constant. Managers and players come and go and we all have differing opinions on them. Where we are at the minute is sitting on very thin ice and we could still fall through. I accept that I'm in the minority but I believe that at best Pearson is a very good championship manager.
Until he guides a team to survive in the Premier League, this is true. Just as it was true that Harry Kane was only an average Championship player when he was with us and Millwall.
I find it strange how people have to say Pearson has found his level and cant take us any further and then he goes and does it People didnt think he was the man to get us out of League 1 when he was appointed- He did People thought he couldnt build a team capable of challenging for promotion the next season- He did People thought after our bad run of form Pearson was flawed as a manager and could only build a team but not get the results from it- we got the results Then he become a very good championship manager but wasnt capable of getting a side promoted- he did in some style aswell And now this year he is out of his depth, cant keep a team up etc. I think he will prove them doubters wrong again He is our only successful manager in 15 years. Why do people continue to write him off and question him? It baffles me completely
PF, I wouldn't stress out about it. The only people Pearson has to answer to are the owners., not his critics like me.
