We've been playing three centre backs for months now, pretty much since Upson and Huth became available. We were still losing with that formation. The wing backs have always got forward. Albrighton I was going to mention, but he's only replaced Mahrez who was doing very well in the first half of the season. Obviously its not quite like-for-like, but they both good players, and I think I's opt for Mahrez if both were on form. Vardy hasn't played wide that much. He, Nugent and Ulloa at various times have lost form. Part of our resurgence has actually been those three, particularly Vardy, finding form again at the same time. I'd say overall our recent successes have been due to opponents with nothing to play lacking appetite and some of our better players returning to form. Many things can affect form, including fan negativity affecting player psychology.
Its not mate. That's what got him into trouble in the first place. You can very rarely speak your mind in most jobs, let alone a PL manager. Murphy is a scumbag but Pearson has to learn not to give the likes of him a rod to bash him with.
I'd agree with that, Pearson had obviously been focusing on a few negative reports about us rather than the entire picture of how our team spirit and attitude is being perceived, which lead to the Ostrich comments. Pearson started yesterdays press conference with an apology, admitting he was wrong to do what he did last night, journos knew he would be alot more reserved, ergo could lay into him. I can pretty much guarantee now that Pat Murphy has been put on the same ban sheet as Stringer.
You can guarantee that if Mourinho did something like this, he'd be a genius for deflecting attention away from his players There have been many cases where managers have been an absolute arse to the media over the years, and none of them have received half as much coverage as this. Not quite to the same level, I grant you, but Van Gaal was a monumental bellend to this reporter the other week, and nobody has battered an eyelid. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896...-that-you-are-interested-van-gaal-gives-spiky The Hull lot seem to be lapping it up at any rate, but of course, they don't care about Nigel or Leicester, eh? I absolutely guarantee that if, say, Sean Dyche had done the exact same thing, the Hull lot would not be even half as arsed. But I guess we have fans on this board, and a bit of history, so they come tell us how embarrassing NP is, as if we're supposed to be embarrassed too or something... Whether they will admit it or not, ever since that fateful day all them years ago when NP moved back to Leicester, it's been a constant battle of them trying to "get one over on us", and this is just the latest fad... When the reality is, I really couldn't care less
Lets compare his rant to some of the best there was, shows how blown out of proportion Pearsons is. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32531969
Saints fan here in peace . I have always wondered how we would have done if saints had decided to extend his contract all those years ago . TOP TOP bloke IMHO . I do know that at the time the REAL people at the club loved him , sadly a bitter LOWE life , ruined it ............
I think you are doing just fine without him!!! Koeman doing a great job down there. Now go and beat Sunderland for us!!!!
Pearson has ALWAYS spoke his mind. He stopped speaking to the tosser on the local radio back in 2009/10, but before that, their interviews were fiery! National attention is only being drawn to it now because we're in the Premier League. The press have been on his case provoking him since the fan incident, as they regard themselves as the self-appointed voice of the people. I hope he has learnt from this, not because he was embarrassing or because he was way out of line, but because all of this threatens to overshadow what could end up being a very memorable season. Plus we don't need any more tossers like Murphy trying to make a name for themselves!
Right my take on this is Pearson calling Ian Baker an ostrich is quite funny but he crossed the line when he called the reporter stupid and basically implied he can't do his job. That was totally out of order and Pearson rightly apologised Pat Murphy has the right to ask some question of Pearson but to go on for 7 minutes is over the top and he completely crossed the line when he mentioned anger management. Pearson conducted himself very well during his ramblings The media can't call managers names and write **** about them and go and cry when a manager says something in return. He called him a ostrich, not that big of a deal for crying out loud. The irony of the line where he said Pearson should respect the media because they put money into football which puts Pearson in a job. In case he didn't realise its managers like Pearson that keep him in a job. Its a 2 way street
Agreed Proud. I have been critical of Pearsons press conferences previously, but calling someone an ostrich - ffs - nowt in that at all. NP apologised, I believe, cos of his references as to whetther the guy was flexible enough to actually bury his head in the sand - not NPs greatest comment. All blown out of proportion.
Yeah, I didn't realise the implications of this (the journalist is, ahem, a little on the large side) when I defended him the other day, so in that context it was a little churlish of Nige and he was right to apologise. But the guy is still an ostrich.
All I will say, is fair play to Nigel. He ensured that the majority of pre-match discussion was about an ostrich, rather than how poor Newcastle have been, and how we really should be winning. Something Jose himself would have been proud of Maybe Jose gave Pearson some pointers on Wednesday!?
