I'm happy to give him a nod - he did a good footballing job for us wth the money he had - but I do think it is funny that we got promoted and he didn't after moving on to supposedly further his career. I also have reservations about his ability at a higher level - with the playing and financial resources at his dosposal the last 2 seasons he really should have got them promoted.
I think Bruce signed some (very expensive) dross too as well as some **** loanees (gk). Just proves the old adage that if you get 7 signings out of 10 right, you're doing more than well.
I'll give you Proschwitz - but he is probably one of our more prolific strikers in terms of goals/minutes on the pitch. Amos was poor, but then Stockdale grew into his position and then did enough. Even Fergie has made poor signings - but it is about consistently getting the best out of the players you have and I think this season Bruce has proven his superiority quite resoundingly.
Hardly expensive as he'd already agreed a deal with the Barmby administration before he was sacked. Dross though - I'll give you that. was only ever signed as backup to a first-choice loanee. That said, whether re-signing Matt Duke would've been cheaper or not I don't know, but he'd have been a better option to have.
Lots of people going on about the good players he brought in. I may be wrong but i thought that was more down to Walsh. It was his job to man motivate and be tactical and i never really saw that.
You mean that long away streak where we were unbeatable (17 games) was down to Walsh and Shakey? Or maybe Big Sam?
Nah - but looking at the problems his Leicester side have faced at the business end of the season and his reluctance to embrace the limelight might raise some questions as to whether he can cope with the pressure of expectation - and also, I feel there are questions over whether he can manage big wage/big ego players. Might hold him back in his career. Very good Championship/FL manager still - close, but no cigar.
I wanted Leicester to win the playoffs so we could have a little 'grudge' match with them next season but oh well. Since they're staying down, he might as well get sacked just to bring closure to it all. Leicester would be better off keeping him though.
If I were making your argument, then I would've mentioned the bullet we dodged with DJ Campbell. Proved his colours with the Blackburn move I feel. That said, had he come into a positive club with a successful, hard working culture, and he'd actually have to score goals to get a premiership wage - rather than tossing it off and just sitting on one, then we may have seen a different player than the one the Chicken Plucker bought.
Remind me ,How many games did Fryatt,Hobbs and Rosenior play this season? You can quote each player as a percentage of TOTAL games played if you like.
Jakupovic wasn't given a contract before Bruce arrived, he was on trial at Ipswich when we called him up to offer a deal.
Amazed at the Rosenior stat - 36 games! I've checked and it's right according to Wiki. He just doesn't seem to have been around the starting 11 that much!
At least Hull has a Gold painted phone box outside the job centre. Or so a twitter or 2 was saying yesterday. As for Nigel himself. Wolverhampton are looking for a manager IF the King Prawn owners issue some P45's this week. Well chuffed for Watford sunday. The game was a great watch and the best team won in THE END.
Pearson went from being all smiles in the first half and sat smuggly on his bench to a very unhappy guy with gritted teeth when those set piece free kicks went over the bar in the second half. He didn't do post match interview with the BBC leaving this to Shakey. He hates the media attention thing even when his team win. To be fair we owe him a lot after our relegation from the PL - steadied the ship, bought in some good players. Can't see him staying at Leicester now though after yesterdays dramatic loss.
Cheating twat. Glad he missed as cheats should not prosper at all. Not to mention Shakker and Walsh. The only one worth having belongs to Man Utd. Keane. The championship next season will be a great watch. Good Luck.
