Bristol City had to cut losses without covid. The wage bill was at a level that cost cutting had to occur, the cost cutting was already predicted.

The old regime was very similar to playing the housing market. When house prices are on the upward trend it’s great - you buy in and your stocks rise then you sell at a profit. It worked during those times.
If the market crashes you get stuck with negative equity and big debts.

We are, and will always be at a disadvantage compared to ex Prem sides like WBA, Watford, Burnley, Bournemouth, and Norwich etc
They are given hundreds of millions of pounds for failing to stay in the top flight
Against such odds, realistically, what chance do we have ?
    It’s a big carve up

I have never understood the position where losing gets you millions of dosh to get you back to where you couldn't survive. The recent article whereby it claims that the Premier League is funding the other European leagues by the ridiculous money they offer for foreign players looks to be spot on. Is it any wonder that clubs like ours, and many others, struggle to survive in a totally different financial world? At least Sheffield United may not have to worry about money any longer if this Nigerian billionaire is true, but maybe not (wink-wink). If it sounds too good to be true then is probably is.

And when he sacks Pearson there will be another reason… It’s part of the managerial merry go round. Right now we can only dream of sacking a manager for failing to make the top 6 as it’s deemed a failure.

We are in a better place now (not league position) because we needed to be post Covid......before Covid, as with any club, we were trying to build a squad to progress......every club outside the premier has had to put the brakes on regarding players and wages..
We were never in any danger of relegation as we are and have been under NP.. hopefully with adjustments made we will turn a corner.....anything less, IMO he will be toast..

Its the EPL's money. Winning gets the reward. Parachute payments are part of the reward, and are a ring fenced projected income for that success. If the payments were altered do you think the EPL members would not continue to pay what is their pie to themsevles?

payments are [ I believe? ] for maintaining the contract status of the players who get demoted! [ or mostly for ] If you take a team like say EVERTON with maybe 20 players over £25k [ AVERAGE? ] plus rest of team then it could easily be over £60m a year? .. thats £120m + for 2 years yet alone 3! [ contracts could be for that or longer ] ..yes they can make a tidy profit from itas players move on and rebuild might be on lower salaries!!
    correct me if wrong ...

Yes. Its all part of a food chain BCFC are not part of. The EPL has its cash. EFL clubs will gripe about parachute payments, but the EPL will give its pie to its members. Parachute payments could alter but the EPL will still reward its members, its cash, and not spread it down the chain that does not create the income.
