Nothing to do with computers but that bane of life these Political Correctness. The latest example of this lunacy is a cartoon depicting Serena Williams having a tantrum and the usual Twitterati going into a frenzy over it. Personally I see nothing wrong with it especially as she has previous in this area. I remember John McEnroe getting far worse back in the 80s. What do you think?
As an added measure at what point did it become a “ RACIST “ cartoon ? To me It is just a cartoon caricature of her throwing a tantrum, or is it because the cartoonist is possibly white, thus enabling the libtards to jump on the racism bus AGAIN !!!!! More to the point at what junction did common sense and humour turn off the highway of life?
Seems crazy to me. I just don't get how it could be described as racist. Does this make me a racist? I could possibly (only very possibly) see how it could be seen as sexist.
Was going to post exactly the same thing. It's getting mind-bogglingly farcical. Considering she threw a tantrum on court whats the harm in a humorous cartoon?! I don't even see how it's sexist never mind racist. I bet when Mcenroe threw fits back in the eighties there were funny cartoons drawn taking the pee out of him....... Were they sexist or racist? The world and half the people in it really are going to hell in a handbasket.
Williams deserves all she gets. She is, without doubt, one of the greatest players ever. She is also a petulemt, bad loser with a ridiculous sense of entitlement.
It's just an excuse for people who think they're important and believe that others are interested in their viewpoints to post utter bollox on twatter....... Think how people are depicted in cartoons here........some of these twatter folk see insults where none exist....they need to get a life.... As col said Williams is a magnificent tennis player but behaived appallingly.....it sullied the other lasses moment of triumph...
I feel very sorry for the Japanese girl who absolutely destroyed Williams, the result is now a side story. Williams did herself and her sport no favours at all, the umpire, who got $350 for the job, was incredible, I would have walked very quickly faced with that abuse. But regardless of offence the cartoon isn’t funny.
For anyone who doesn’t know this is Naomi Osaka. On Saturday night she became the US Open champion. She received no coaching, broke zero rackets, and treated the umpire and her opponent with respect throughout. Unfortunately nobody is talking about her. please log in to view this image
Apparently it is racist because it depicts her as having frizzy black hair, large lips anda black complextion.....that is to say...it looks a bit like her, because she is black. A little bit like the McEnroe picture was a white man, with permy hair and a hairband. Now is anyone complain about the umpire who is talking to a cartoon of a fair woman with blondish hair ...Not a vey good representation of Japanese/Haitian Naomi Osaka imho
That does annoy me as someone who wasn’t around then to have enjoyed the original. Still surprises me though what makes it through. Imagine what Scum would have been like if released now.
Where does it stop? Even Fawlty Towers is now a victim of this obsession, these were all of their era and should be viewed that way. Read classic books from 50, 100 or more years ago and the language is of that era, how can these zealots redefine things just to satisify the 'snowflakes'?...
It's exactly the problem with twitter It gives every angry idiot in the world an equal platform with more measured intelligent folk It's also all the BBC report on . Lazy gits
Interesting article in The Sunday Times magazine from a few weeks ago by 2 American professors who basically said that these snowflakes are the result of their parents mollycoddling their children to such extent that they can not accept that anyone can possible have a different opinion to their own and their response to an opinion they don't like is something along the lines off "you can't say that"...… The worrying thing is that these are the very people who'll be running companies, countries, governments in years to come......
