You'll push for top 4, for sure, Arsenal will be the fall team this year. City are going to be in it again. It'll be between you and Arsenal for 4th. Unless you put in alot of money, I don't think you'll fix all the issues in 1 season. Might take a couple of seasons for the younger players to reach their best, then you'll be back to challenging the top 2. And us? We came 8th the year we were bottom when Redknapp took over, so yes, worse than you. I'm not going to pretend we've got as good team as you, because across the XI, you're better. Having said that, we deserved our result at Anfield
Look how many Sunderland fans who are saying he's a GREAT player with a fantastic future and did have a good season. This works both ways mate. ================================================================== Sorry mate but nearly every Sunderland fan ive spoke to is chuffed with the fact we got so much for him. After Xmas many Sunderland fans wanted him dropped for Zenden. His stats say it all- 3 goals despite playing most games and 9 assists. He is poor in the tackle and his set-pieces are worse. On a plus side his work rate is exceptional. 20m is an obscene amount to pay as you'll soon realise! From what ive seen he is no better than Spearing.
I guess it means you don't have to worry about keeping him happy this season. From what I heard, he moaned on occasion? Good part of the deal for sunderland though, who've been short on strikers.
Tbf mate he never moaned, he was just awful and it was like playing with one man less everytime he was on the pitch.
I've got a question for some of the idiots spouting vitriol on this board. Man United are paying a similar amount for someone as untried and untested as Henderson, and its called ''a great piece of business''. When Liverpool do it,its foolish and over-priced.? Now why is that.Is there some unwritten rule that I don't know about that Liverpool are the only club in the premiership that aren't allowed to spend money. Its dog eat dog as far as I'm concerned. If you don't stay fresh or improve yourself, you're going to get over-taken.Its already happened to Liverpool before. Now they're under new owners who want to re-address that, and that is by spending money. My opinion is and I reckon the majority of Liverpool fans will say the same thing,Good on you Kenny,if you are given the cash to take us where we want to be...spend it.
No, Utd have overpaid too. If you're English, you command massive fees, that aren't deserved. This isn't an attack on Liverpool, and I'm sorry if it seemed like it. I guess it's just you've had the misfortune of it happening twice to you in 6 months. Wickham will go for at least £15m by the end of it i predict, and that'll be overpaid, on the basis that he's been at Ipswich, and not shown he can do it on the big stage
Didn't Spurs over-pay on Crouch and Defoe who aren't what you call prolific. I see your point that English players are way over-priced.
Your partly right, but the difference between Manchester United and Liverpool are HOW they are going to use these players. Liverpool are clearly trying to develop a strong british core with foreign flair to complete a good side. Manchester United seem to have been pressured by Liverpool's interest in Phil Jones so went in for him whilst they still had a chance, it was more forced than choice. I am not saying this fully justifies the price tags, but I'm just saying if you are buying the english players for a core that you expect to keep over the long term, then these prices could prove to be positive.
Okay, I admit you're actually going to use them effectively. Utd probably won't, as we have seen with Smalling, who didn't get alot of game time even with Ferdinand injured alot. And to KingPepeReina, yes, we MASSIVELY overpaid for the pair of them. No idea why we bought them, maybe to increase the number of English players in our squad for Europe? They are another couple of exmaples of the overpriced Englishman. Don't take offence to what I said, it'd not just your club, we're guilty too
Random. On the other side of the coin,Spurs stung Man United on a close to £16 million profit for Carrick.Why...He's English.I'm still convinced thats the reason why Liverpool stung Real Madrid on Xabi Alonso.Real Madrid needed a Spanish player to up their quota,Liverpool couldn't make much on Arbeloa who was in the final year of his contract, but still managed to make a £1 million profit. However Xabi had 3 years left.So Liverpool stung them for £34 million, thus making a £23.5 million profit.
Lol, very true, completely forgot about that. I guess it'll teach us to bring up our own youth, you've got some young ones there, the last Spurs Academy guy to be a decent player is Ledley King, we've produced nobody since then. We buy ours, from clubs like Leeds cheap, such as Danny Rose and Aaron Lennon
Personally I think it would be a wrong move for Phil Jones' career. Ferdinand may enter a year wear he is forced to accept less first team appearances, with C. Smalling likely to take his place, Ferdinand would be warming the bench as he won't be getting injured as much because he isn't getting playing as much. I wish P. Jones luck, but I have a feeling Scott Dann will be the more happier of the two six months into the season.
I wouldn't know, haven't seem him play to be honest, from what I hear both are very promising prospects. Although even if Scott Dann is better, remember, he is 24, whilst Jones is 19. Jones has more years to improve, although I still stand by my previous post in saying he'd be better off either staying where he is or at another club where he can get first team football and develop.
To get into the champs league, you have to do well domestically, that is what LFC are doing. Not to mention 19......
