I think the Henderson fee, whatever it really is if Ngog is part of the £20m, is an example of FSG being prepared to pay top dollar for players the manager really wants. Rafa had 3 years of having to accept compromises. Surely we're better paying over the odds than having to take a bigger risk on a poorer player for less? We'll make a profit on Ngog so that reduces the real fee coming off our bottom line.
20m wont even begin to fufil the potential this guy has. i am however concerned about our now PACKED midfield. even if we sell poulsen and cole, we still have gerrard, lucas, meireles, spearing, shelvey and now henderson. but i heard he can play on the wing. GOOD TIMES (i think)
The outlay is £13 million. Not bad for a promising 20 year old.We also off-loaded a striker that lets be fair was never really going to have a future as he didn't earn the right to.He didn't do enough. He didn't convince anyone.
Some sour grapes from other teams I see. Think you should give the Aresnal fella a break, cant be nice seeing your top two players leave this summer I see your looking at Johnson now, add to that Enrique who looks certain when Newcastle complete the signing of left back from Swansea and your spending will be pretty much done bar another forward and winger. I reckon by next friday you will have added, Johnson, Enrique, Nzogbia to your squad.
Stoke fan here.. We've been heavily linked with N'gog and I know many pool fans don't really rate the lad that highly. Henderson, it's a stupid amount for a good player but I hope it works out for the lad. He's good but I still think 16 million is OTT but it's all about money so like I said, I hope he does well at Liverpool. Youre honest views on N'gog would be most welcome. Or, is he defo part of the Henderson deal?
Can't be nice supporting Hull either can it? For the record I have nothing against Henderson and will be more than happy to take back what I said if he turns out to be a success. I was only mentioning it because I think he is way over priced.
Think of it this way though, if we can get good prices on other players (Mata for around 20 with Valencia's financial problems, Wickham around 10), overall we'll have spent very well.
First Carroll, now Henderson, what is it with Dalglish and overpaying for English players. You had a good couple of young english midfielders. Very promising in fact, looked good during your Europa League run, and yet now you've spent all this money, they'll be confined to the sides, as there must be pressure to play Henderson. You don't spend £20m for a bench player. Also, what happens when Suarez is injured? You're in big trouble, no other reliable strikers, ergo, why didn't he spend some money on strikers?
We've had several of these threads today. 1. Our business isn't done. 2. Our squad will be rotated for the cups. 3. Henderson can play a variety of positions if need be. He's more versatile than a Jay Spearing. and 4. Bozz/KPR can we close this thread now?
I'm closing this as it was discussed and closed already and is clearly a wind-up and is certainly something I told Bozz I will not tolerate and that is utter stupidity,I did promise to accept banter, but this is certainly not banter.(I closed the other one after it was merged)
He's definitely part of the Henderson deal. Regarding Henderson. If Kenny can work his magic on him like he did on Tim Sherwood, then I reckon he'll be a fine player. Back to Ngog,If Sunderland can bulk him up,then he'll do well,as he doesn't seem strong enough to command a starting place.
They'd be good buys for any top 6 team, you might have competition for Wickham at £10m. I'd imagine all of the top 6 would want him
Sorry, didn't see the other 1, and isn't a wind up, genuinely think that you overpaid for both, and might want to consider what'd happen if Suarez got injured
But again, our business isn't done. We still have 2 and a half months left to sure up our squad. If Wickham goes elsewhere, we'll look for others. The same applies to all of our targets.
True, true. I guess if you start early, you ensure you've got who you want. Unlike us, who always leave it until the last day, and disappoint all the fans, window after window. January was the worst. I swear we bid for every big name striker in Europe, and threw big monye bids around as well, but predictably, got nowhere
Its clearly a wind-up as you're refering to Liverpool as a ''top 6 team''.Liverpool were finishing in the top 6 due to horrible circumstances. How far down would Spurs have finished if faced with some of the things Liverpool faced. This is the first summer since 2007 that Liverpool are going to invest heavily in their squad.Liverpool are going to flex their muscles, and will make it more of an even contest. They have £130 million to spend to gain parity with Spurs, and £200 million to gain parity with City.Lets see how they like the shoe being on the other foot?
