We don't need a replacement for Pav per se, what we need is a striker we own that can act as a target man, make and score goals. As much as I love Defoe, he's a person that can score goals, but is no target man and (although I'm not saying this as criticism) is selfish in on goal. I would like to see Llorente or Huntelaar at Spurs. Huntelaar will have a good understanding playing with VdV and Llorente should fit all the right boxes that we need. I do not want to see Rodallega in a Spurs shirt. I don't rate him that much at all. He works hard, but, in my opinion, lacks real quality. Definitely not Owen either. Just no... If we can keep Adebayor, I would actually like to see Hoilett sign for Spurs. He has shown that he has real quality in his game and is one of the bright sparks in an otherwise dull Blackburn side. He is young (only 21), and a huge prospect. I think he's an excellent player and can learn from Adebayor.
I've not seen enough of Chamakh to judge him, in all honesty. He started well and was then unceremoniously dropped, which he doesn't seem to have recovered from. Probably ****, though.
I think you would have to be French, and not a very good judge of strikers - or central defenders, thinking about it, to pay good money for him!
I'd like Demba Ba. We'd get a decent striker, and we'd cripple the Toon's top 4 hopes at the same time. Sorted
I'm more concerned about JD's attitude in Jan than who comes in for Pav, he's not getting game time despite some early form. Its the Euro's next year, and the last few months to impress Capello, and he's not going to do that on our bench. This is Pav's problem too, so any striker intent on being in that tournament are going to want regular football, and will not come here. Africans will be missing immediately in Jan to the ACON, so dismiss them too. Rodallega is about the only name I'd agree with here, he is a proven nuisance in this league at least, despite not being in the best of teams. On another thread, Anelka's a reasonable shout too as a short term answer.
I wonder what all the Spurs fans that recommended him before he went to the goons think about him now!...the 8m, is that what he spends on hair gel? How does he ever expect to head the ball (supposedly what he's good at!) with all that slime on his swede?
The only way I could see Rodallega at Spurs is as a back-up striker, in other words a more literal replacement for Pav when it's clear we need to start looking for a full-time player to match Adebayor up front. So if we signed Llorente (or whoever) as the main striker, kept hold of Defoe and VDV to play off them, and Rodallega as cover/low risk cup game starter, that would make sense...until you consider that it means Coulibally or Kane won't be any nearer making their mark - unless any deal for them in January involves one or t'other being loaned to that club as short-term cover.
One part because of the way he left meaning he'd never be accepted back fully, the other because the only evidence of his existence is him outscoring all their other strikers last season without anyone actually seeing him or hearing him being commended by his manager or teammates...
as much as i like the idea of doumbia, could he really play the lone role? still looks a class act and to me looks like a better man's Defoe. Would love Leanadro to come to us also, is it right to think its the end of the Brazillian season then so they may be happier to sell. Still 20 + million on Damiao seems a bif of a gamble but then again hes better gamble than Henderson....
I'd eat my hat if either Llorente or Soldado joined Spurs. Daimao would be ridiculously expensive for a 3rd choice striker no matter how much potential he has. If he moves it's more likely to be in the summer. Agbonlahor is an interesting one though, he'd probably move for a chance to play with Harry (both have international ambitions).
Agbonlahor is terrible. Hopefully we move for Damiao in the summer. I don't understand why Spurs always have this problem of people getting miffed at not enough game time (eg. Bassong and many people's prediction for Defoe), you very rarely see it at other clubs yet at Spurs we seem to have 2 players every year throwing a strop.
Damiao won't leave Internacional in the summer as that is half way through the season in Brazil, if we're going to sign him it will be in january.
