Rumoured to have had a medical today. http://www.westlondonsport.com/fulham/fulham-set-to-sign-russian-striker/
Wikipedia has his recent stats in Stuttgart as 15 goals in 64 appearances. Not a prolific scorer! Searching on the net saw a great goal 33 meters free kick against Serbia.
His overall stats are 106 goals in 308 appearance; 7 fo Russia in 21 outings. I believe though he is behind the other 'P' of Spurs in the Russian pecking order at present. He is out of contract in the summer and the word on the street is that this is a loan deal, which seems strange from the Stuggart perspective, if true. If it is I suppose it gives Jol a better chance to weigh him up - if he gets a game that is. At 6' 2'' he matches up to Ruiz in height but is said to robust rather than silky. The alternative English based youngsters are now all but gone - Rhodes to Norwich; Sharp to Southampton. Wolves pitching in for Maynard.
I dont' think Rhodes has gone to Norwich, Cottager. I've just taken a look at their board and found this, which may be the cause of confusion: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/120861-Jordan-Rhodes-signs-for-Lambert-confirmed-on-BBC There's nothing genuine on the BBC sport website, and if Rhodes had joined any Premier League club it would be all over there. Unless you've seen another source that has eluded me, I think you misunderstood a joke (admittedly, not a great one) or were talking to someone who had done so. As for Progrebnyak and Barrios, I think I prefer Barrios because I'll get used to writing his name without checking the spelling much more quickly. Other than that, I have no insight into either of them!
We, like all other clubs are linked with all and sundry,it fills in columns on the sports pages. But among the many mentioned, there does not seem to be any full backs. And those that watch,or read reports of our games, this weak area has to be our priority. Still all will be revealed in about 12/13hrs time.
Looks like the Barrios deal is dead. Pogreb is dependent on a work permit and him passing a medical. Can't help thinking it would have been a better idea is actually sign a striker before selling Bobby. If the Pogreb deal fails and we end the window with only AJ as a recognised striker... I will lose a lot of respect for Jol.
The Pogrebnyak deal is closer to being completed than the Zamora one. It could well happen that we are left with Zamora, Johnson, Pogrebnyak, Sa and Trotta as recognised strikers. Not a bad selection I think.
The BBC deadline day updatable thingy says that a work permit has been granted for Pogrebnyak. Sounds like the deal is about to go through.
Haven't been this underwhelmed by a signing since we brought in Shefki Kuqi. The guy has a record similar to AJ's in a worse standard of league. Barrios however would be fantastic, can't see it happening now Dortmund have sold Zidan though.
Barrios deal is definitely off, which apparently is why we turned our attention to Odemwingie. Would definitely have preferred Barrios.
Apparently Dortmund were only willing to sell one of Zidan and Barrios to not leave them short up front, the club that bought Zidan (Mainz I think) beat us to the punch. Desperately slow as usual from FFC.
He's a UEFA Cup winner with a history of knee problems - the extent of which I don't know. Hopefully just a stop gap.
I see the Ruiz hating brigade have surpassed themselves Proggywhathisname hasn't even had 45 mins before being written off.
This. Does a six month contract inspire confidence? He's been given the same length as both Litmanen and Kuqi. This guy is supposed to be our replacement for Zamora? If we had kept everyone and signed no-one, I would have been disappointed, but to have sold Zamora and replaced him with this guy, I'm raging.
