Well if he comes, how about we give him a chance. Nice quick pressing style, bit of flair. And apparently we may even score a goal or two. I know, I can’t believe it either...
He played as a Defensive Midfielder during his career also, So hopefully he will know a thing or two about defensive shape.
I’d prefer Keyser Soze than the “Usual Suspects”. Obviously joking but the more I think about it .....
Bit of a journeyman. Been at 8 clubs in 6 countries and his longest stint is 2 and a half seasons. Though he had decent spells with basel, swansea and Fiorientina. Dont know a thing about his style of play or philosophy. Cant be any worse than Hughes mind -about as inspirational as my big toe. Thats my summary! Oh, and he once got sacked for divulging inside information regarding a transfer
Hard to say, there's not a lot of meat in there, it reads like his source is from Sousa's side though (which would make sense because he's not Jez Wilson).
Asked 3 hours ago for a price for him and now the papers are reporting it, will probably go in as favourite now
Almost certainly. Though point of order, he actually got fired in China, so our long streak of hiring unemployed managers will continue. I'm pretty well fine with this; he's someone I mentioned a year back as a viable option (when we instead went for Pellegrino), after getting fired by Fiorentina, and his Basel side was competitive...that was the team that got out of a CL group with Real Madrid and Liverpool, taking 4 points off Liverpool in the process. Pretty sure others brought him up as well. He might leave next Thursday when his wanderlust hits, but his CV is about as good as a team in our position is likely to attract.
End of the day we can’t really play any worse can we so let’s just ride the wave and if we fall off or get chomped on by a shark then so be it.
Happy if this is true. Sousa built the Swansea side that Rodgers always gets credit for getting promoted. Plays a pressing game. likes to have deep lying playmaker. Fits "the Southampton Way" style of tactics IMO.
His 2 years at Fiorentina seems like his best stint as manager. Maybe the club is looking for someone that will leave after a season and not need to be sacked
Can't see much of this anywhere else, oldest is two day old articles from places like tribalfootball and hitc. How come the edit in the op, was there a link to article? Could someone who subscribes c+p the full article please.
Paywalled, but the lede has pretty much everything anyhoo: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...-mark-hughes-as-southampton-manager-q5bbd0h86
I've put £20 on it anyway, (apparently, I get it back if I lose). Recently my yearly bet has been on the incoming saints manager. Puel, Pelligrini ... and Tuchel
